ONLINE EDITOR/ MESSAGE BOARD
COORDINATOR Whilst this was basically a volunteer position, based at
home via PC, it carried many responsibilities and challenges. The concept and design of
the Satellite Crew Newsletter, a weekly online publication that is distributed to 100
members of the volunteer team worldwide, being only one. This position required a great
deal of information collation springing from the new world of digital communication, as
well as the editing of contributions, basic layout of the News and the meeting of
deadlines. Message Board Co-ordinator took me to the realms of keeping the forum free of
unpleasant bulletin board posts, organising new and interesting threads of conversation,
helping AOL members, new and old, to find their way around the forums, and in some cases
their computers. I also undertook troubleshooting responsibilities in chat rooms, dealing
with aggressive members, various problems, etc. |
