Here are lists of the highest paying pay-to-surf companies.  Each of these companies pays you for advertising space on your computer; these ads appear in "cashbars" while you are online.  Cashbars are about 70 pixels tall, and are usually the width of the monitor. 

If you surf an hour a day with a couple of these bars running, and you refer just 5 people to each of these companies, you'll make $50 a month.  It isn't huge, but it pays for your computer's internet access or cable modem.  And if you want to refer more people, the potential is huge. 

You can run a half dozen of these programs at a time if you want - you'll just lose a lot desktop space.  I recommend you get the two or three best ones, and refer people to them.  The referral programs are where the real money is - if you have 5 referrals that surf as much as you do, then you'll earn twice the amount each month.  Consider it almost like a pyramid scheme, albeit a legal one.

#1. DesktopDollars	$0.50/hr for 40 hours. Referrals: $0.10 for direct, $0.02 for indirect Rating: 10/10 (My Favorite)
2. AllAdvantage	$0.50/hr for 25 hours.  Referrals: $0.10 for direct, $0.05 for indirect Rating: 9/10
3. Spedia	About $0.50/hr Referrals: 25% of their income *Also has other methods of earning income (email, games, etc.)  Rating: 9/10
4. Valuepay	About $0.90/hr Referrals $.10 for direct, $.05 for indirect.  Starts in two weeks (hence the 8.5). **Please click the "refugee" box when signing up.  I'll earn a little extra, which helps with college. Rating: 8.5/10
5. PaidForSurf	Up to $0.75/hr (if you click on 3% of the banners) for unlimited hours. Referrals: $0.05 Rating: 8/10
6. Ignifuge*	*Pays $0.05/visit for using them as a start page.  Pays $0.02 for each referral's visit. Rating: 7.5/0
7. CashSurfers	About $0.40/hr Referrals: $0.10, $0.05 for indirect referrals Rating: 7/10
8. Epipo	$0.60/hr Referrals: $0.10 for direct, $0.05 for indirect Rating: 7/10
9. Desktop      Horizons	$0.60/hr Referrals: $0.10 for direct, less for indirect *Pays in webcash, but they allow conversion to real money. Rating: 6.5/10
10. GetPaid4	$0.55/hr for 75 hours. I have trouble logging into their server, but when I do, they're great. Rating: 5/10
11. UtopiAd	About $0.40/hr Referrals: 10% *They aren't as upfront as some other companies. Rating: 5/10
12. ItAdsUp	Currently in Beta testing. $0.60/hr Referrals: $0.10 for direct, $0.05 for indirect. *May receive better ranking when fully operational. Rating: 4.5/10
13. PrizeWindow	About $0.50/hr Referrals: 10%  I don't like their setup very much. Rating: 4/10
14. GoToWorld	$0.25/hr (actual amount, they claim more) $0.06-$0.09 fore referrals. *Their cashbar can also function as a browser, so it takes up extra RAM. Rating: 4/10
15. DotAd	75% of advertising revenue, less for referrals.  This is a poorly run company, and their web page is often down.  Rating: 3/10
