A brief history of mine

Full name: um. That'll do.
Birthday: 21 July 1978. Click here to send me a present.
Citizenship: India
Mental Stability: like that of the Titanic
Main characteristics: Depends how well you know me!

I started off in graph theory (even got a Masters in it) and considered moving into algebraic combinatorics before deciding to move into math arising from nature (i.e. differential equations, non-linear systems, probability...). Things are rather vague at the moment and further details will be revealed when known. (If you know them already, please contact me.)

(PS - You may have noticed that I'm addicted to parentheses.)

As of Fall 2000, I'll be a mathematics graduate student at the University of Minesota in Minneapolis.

I did my first degree at the University of Zimbabwe ... if that makes as much sense to you as the University of Outer Baluchistan, you're in good - well, certainly large - company.

The pic on the right is of one of those poor sodden creatures with no friends to photograph them.

My interests are fairly typical, which means I am not your local osteopathoenteropsychologist-cum-scuba-diver. First and threemost - reading. I USED to read a lot: Pratchett's the best, and anything like Douglas Adams and Tibor Fischer. But some classical stuff too, like Tolstoy and Wilde. The modern Indian writers are my cup of chai too, Rushdie's a genius! Vikram Chandra, Arundhati Roy, Anita Desai etc. And thrillers, which I read when I don't feel like thinking --- the usual Forsyths and Grishams. Detective stories are nice too, Rex Stout's witty and sarcastic, without a lot of the soppiness that characterizes authors like the Dame and Ruth Rendell. Ellis Peters' Brother Cadfael stories have some marvellous medieval language. And scifi - Asimov and Clarke are my favourites.

As I've been blessed with so many of those gifts you can't give away - namely negative hand-eye coordination, nice wimpish biceps and an incredible lack of focus, sport isn't something I'm good at. I can give you a half-decent game of table tennis or tennis though.

If you feel down to it, email me
