1944

Winter 1943/44 wasn't a pleasant time for "Wilde Sau" tactics. Ice on airfields runaways and freezing of wings made a lot of crashes. And successes were not as high that they could hid losses. So it became true, that "Wilde Sau" Geschwadern were ordered to battle against USAAF bombers and fighters in daylight. First action came in late December 1943, and in 1944 it was more frequently.
On 16. March 1944 Herrmann got an order to abandon the 30. Jagddivision and it's three units were performed on day fighting as a part of Reichsverteidigung (Defence of the Reich). Parts of JG 301 joined defence battles for Ploesti in Rumania, JG 302 flew combats over Hungary and Austria. JG 300 stayed in the middle of the Reich and made its "work" there. But sometimes flew to help JG 302 against 15.USAAF. In the autumn 1944 (September - October) was JG 302 disordered and it's personnel joined JG 301.
The battles over Reich continued and were still harder and harder for German pilots. Also JG 300 and JG 301 suffered heavy losses during the end of the year 1944. And during Ardennes offensive "Wilde Sau" Geschwadern stayed alone in the Reich. Other units were sent to support attacking ground forces. That were hard times for "Wilde Sau" pilots.
