Meet Asim Ali

Hey. My name is Asim Ali. I was born February 7th, 1981 in Karachi, Pakistan. I lived there for about the first five years of my life, but for about the last 13 years of my life, I've been living in United States. So to all those people that I meet nowadays who ask me "Is it hard to understand English?"...Yes, could you speak a little slower please? [Oh, that's my sarcasm by the way. I use it a lot. So if it sounds like I'm being mean, I'm just messin around.]

Umm, let's see. Right now I'm a senior at Auburn High School. I'm deciding between University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and The University of Georgia. I hope to become a pediatrician [pray]. I enjoy doing lots of stuff. Playing sports [football is my favorite], watching sports, hanging out with friends [when they're not too busy with their girlfriends and other "stuff"...ahem], listening to music, etc. I'm also involved in a lot of clubs at school...you can read about that later. I guess I'm a pretty normal guy...except I have some gray hair.

For anyone interested, here's my resume. Check out all the jobs I've had so far and stuff like that. Oh, here's a couple of pictures, and sign my guestbook please.

School

Okay, so I've spent majority of my life doing it. And considering what I want to do careerwise, I'm not anywhere close to being done. So why not have a whole section about it? I took/am taking AP classes for European History, American History, English 11 and 12, Biology, and Calculus BC so I thought I'd help myself and others out by finding sites which help out in the classes.

  • AP English - Encompasses both 11th and 12th grade AP English classes. Includes summaries [chapter-by-chapter] and other information [theme, etc.] on novels and plays. Great for "reviewing" for quizzes. No guarantees though.
  • AP Biology - This page contains chapter summaries in outline form of each chapter in Biology. Also includes answers to all the chapter review questions. Great supplement for studying. Also contains links to information about the actual AP test.
  • Calculus BC - Yeah, as if some of the geniusus...I mean students...in there actually need help. Most of them sleep...or read about The Portable MBA [ahem, Crews]. Nevertheless, I thought maybe the information could be useful for some of the other millions of students surfing the web. Contains information about the actual test and some sample problems. Basically, if you're not in Calculus, this is the "what the hell?" section. [sorry, used a curse word. Well, you're the one who actually read it...so you're just as bad.]

Clubs

I'm involved in lots of EC activities and student groups on campus. Below you'll find pages for those that I'm really involved in. There are some not included. If someone wants to give me information about a certain club, I'd be more than willing to include it here in attractive HTML form. Or something like that. Well anyway, these aren't listed in any particular order.

  • Interact - Information on what we've been up to this year and what we plan on doing this year. Pictures! Next meeting information.
  • YMCA Youth Judicial and Government - Find out about both of the clubs. Includes next meeting date, information on Youth Leg and Judicial Weekend. Government section also includes the "EZ Parliamentary Procedure."
  • Mu Alpha Theta - Find out what we've done so far and what we plan on doing for the rest of the year. I have the wonderful job of trying to figure that part out. Also, you can e-mail me if you think you are eligible of being a member. The requirements aren't strict at all, and we don't do service hours.
  • Lab Band - Okay, so technically it's not a club. Still...Check out some cool music that we play. List of people in lab band this year and also information on upcoming concerts, etc. As soon as I figure out how to record them, I might even include some samples!

Once again, this is no where close to all the clubs that exist at AHS. If you have any info about any clubs that you want included, e-mail me.

College

In case you fell asleep during the introduction, I'm hoping on either UM-Ann Arbor or UGA-Athens next year. These two are my only serious choices. I got the letter from UGA saying I got in. I'm waiting for Michigan now.

  • College Central - An excellent selection of How-To's, tips, deciding aides, samples of essays for anyone confused about the whole college process. Basically a "what to do and when to do it" kinda thing.
  • University of Michigan at Ann Arbor - I really liked Michigan when we went up there several summers ago. A really nice place and, well, the name of the university really speaks for itself.
  • The University of Georgia - Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine has named UGA 20th in the nation among public universities for academic excellence. This comes right after being named 26th by US News & World Report and high marks from Money magazine and the Fiske Guide.

Financial Aid
Paying for college is somewhat challenging. Face it: if you can't pay for it, you can't go there. This page will shed some light on Financial Aid and different scholarships that are available. Search 'em out.[CLICK HERE...]

Sports

I'm a sports junkie. I love sports. Playing them and watching, too. These sections are just basic information about teams and sports I keep up with [sorry, no rodeo here].

  • World of Sports - Check out my page on latest information about all sorts of sports. Includes links to stories I think are interesting related with sports. Also includes an automatically updated scoreboard.
  • Dallas Cowboys - They're my favorite team. This page contains latest team developments, previews for upcoming games, previous game recaps, links and stats.

Music

If you have RealAudio, then you can listen to some select songs from this site. Download RealPlayer G2 for best quality.

- Dave Matthews Band - They are my most favorite band. This page contains lyrics, some RealAudio stuff and links.

- Beastie Boys - This page contains information about them. Also some RealAudio content and some lyrics.

- More Songs -Just RealAudio copies of more songs that I like [or have liked in the past] and ones that I may not necessarily like, but they bring back certain memories.

Islam

Keeping an open mind is one of the most important things about life. I've come in contact with many different religions and cultures, and always come away knowing more. I even attended St. Joseph's Catholic School for a year [surprised?] in Tuskegee. It is said in the Qu'ran itself that religion must not be forced upon someone. All a person is responsible for doing is enlightening another-planting a seed. I ask you to open your mind and-no pressure-just learn more about Islam.[CLICK HERE...]

Friends

This section includes some pictures. More will come as I get the time to scan. Also, some of my friends have pretty decent websites of their own. You have to check out Crews's excellent timing with the Compass Bank clock/temp picture. [you'll see...]. Also some links to sites about Auburn. [CLICK HERE...]

For the record: Why surf.to? Okay, so check this: I was going to go all out and get myself a domain name. Figured $35/year is worth it. Only one problem:

ASIM.net Taken: Aircraft Stores Interface Manual
I'm sayin' "Whaaat?" Smells like a conspiracy.
