Black People in Cults
|
Black people in cults? Black people don't join cults. If they do, it is only a few, right? This is what I believed until I joined the DC Church of Christ but now I know I was wrong. The ICC has many black people in the church because it believes in diversity. They believe in it so much that they are building churches in Africa and other parts of the world. If you do not like the word cult how about an abusive church? I did not know that I was in a cult or abusive church until someone told me after I joined them. I still stayed in believing that these God Fearing people were not abusive. I was not taught to fear anyone who reads the bible and lives by it, so why should I leave this so called true church?

I just wanted to know God.

I wanted to get to know God better. I was not a bad person. I went to church, was reading my bible, was doing good in school, but I wanted to go to bible study and this seemed to fit in perfectly with my scchedule. Everywhere else I looked were in places I could not walk to at night or it was on days when I could not make it then bam! Here comes the ICC with "personal bible study". This seemed like a sign from God. Plus I knew one of the girls and she seemed cool not like she was in a cult. So I went. After some time I thought how pushy these people are but they are my people and they would not lead me down the wrong path right? I was wrong again. It turned out the bible studies that were supposed to be private became more open. I was not saved and nor was my family even though it was very religious. The ICC was trying to break my spirit. I am a fun loving person but my laughter and craziness in the ICC was about to be silenced but God talked to me and told me to get out.

You can leave! There is life after the ICC.

You can leave! Don't let anyone, even yourself think that you cannot leave. You will not be doomed to hell if you leave the ICC. They are not a true church. It uses mind control and uses people. That is not how a church is supposed to be. Do not let the ICC discourage you in your beliefs about God. It is the devil that makes up this evil in the world. Yes God may put us through some difficult times but He also helps us through them. Trust in the Lord and he will show you the way.
