Oh, boy! Working at Guest Relations at the busiest park in Disney World was an adventure. Guest contact galore. If you like to use your interpersonal skills to use, work hard and have the most fun.... Guest Relations is for you. We deal with questions anywhere from, "Does Walt ever walk around?" to "Where is the castle?" (Remember Cinderella's castle was turned into a birthday cake... the 25th Anniversary celebration ended a month after I left). I worked City Hall and my true home was the 25th Anniversary Welcome Center. Really, I was fortunate to have been a part of the 18 month Birthday Celebration. Sometimes, it was nice to work at the ole WC, but nothing beats the Hall!

CANDY TAYLOR & WELCOME CENTER TRAINING

Let's talk about Candy, shall we? I saw her name on the list of incoming CPs at the clubhouse. "Candy?" I thought, "What kind of people would name their kid, Candy?" Well turns out Candy is the daughter of Skippy and Cookie Taylor... `nuff said. I finally met her at wardrobe. While Florence, our Welcome Center trainer, helped us with our bow ties. Finally we make it to Mo-4 to find that our class would be the last training class for the 25th Anniversary Welcome Center. What was a two day training, Florence had to condense it to one day. This was Candy's and my first day, we did not know what to expect.... so after morning grind of Disney's Animal Kingdom, Disney's Institute and Downtown Disney, it was time to go to work. After two hours in rotation, we were ready to take on the WC on our own. It was fun while it lasted, until we headed back for a seminar of the Disney Cruise Line "...take the Magic of Disney and just add water." We learned a lot of information, more information about the Disney Resort than I ever wanted to know. But we were oblivious to what was to come at Property Overview, better known as Freakfest `97 -- the most fun any group of 14 weirdoes will ever have.

JOEL FOREMAN

Me (Mona) and Joel

Joel and I did not start off on the right foot. Actually, I thought he was a jerk -- just because our rotation was on double bumps and me & Candy bumped around him..... hehehe. Then a month later, I had a change of heart. Candy and I picked up overtime at a Tomorrowland convention. We had fun working and afterwards we all went to Perkins on LBV. Turns out to be one of many trips after work to the 24-hour fine dining facility. It was me, Candy and Joel for a while..... until I ditched them for my boyfriend, but that is another story. Joel is a real good friend of mine. Well, how can you resist a man who douses himself with Drakkar?

Recently, Joel was nice enough to take my boyfriend, Chris, and I to the Cast Preview of Animal Kingdom. We ate at Breakfasourous with Donald and friends, real good dining experience. Thank you Joel for a wonderful day at AK!

MICK KELLEY

Me and Mick

Mick and I at the Hall. Peach Plaid Forever!!!

Michael was Pervert. So I thought the first time I received email from him. We met on the WDWCP Listserve and 2 years later we were working in the same department. He went to school with my boyfriend Chris Cole. We went through property overview together and now he's full time at MK guest relations. Turns out he's not really a pervert, he's a real sweet guy.

SACHIE HIGA

Me and Sachie

My plaid, Japanese friend Sachie

She's gone!!! Sachie was a very sweet person who was on the International Program, representing Japan. Her year-long term ended April 1998 and has gone back home to her native country. Sachie is missed and I will always remember the time she got yelled at by a lady who demanded "to speak to someone that spoke English." One of those days you have to hold back and cringe. Come back soon, Sachie!!!

BRIAN CAMBELL

Me and Brian

My favorite Brian

He's one of those people that have to give you a hug when you see him (and sometimes he'll let you sit on his lap ;) Brian has moved on to become a GSM for DAK's Guest Relations. The Welcome Center is where we first met/worked together. Gosh, I miss that place... NOT! See, I put you in my site.
