How to be more comfortable in the USA
Language:
There are many different dialects and slang phrases in the US. It may be difficult at first to understand what we are speaking about. It is very similar to the difficulty you must have had with all the different dialects and languages that surrounded you. While you are encouraged to speak your mind freely, there are guidelines that should be followed. It is not appropriate to shout out during class and it is defiantly not appropriate to use foul language in the presence of authority or in the presence of your peers.

Hygiene
It is customary in the US that a person shower and use personal hygiene products on a daily basis ( for example, soap and shampoo in the shower to cleanse the hair and body. And deodorant to prevent body odor from the underarms.) Body odor and bad breath is offensive to most Americans (it is customary to brush your teeth after each meal)
It is also customary for women to remove the body hair that grows in her under arm and on her legs if those parts of the body are exposed. It is also easier to keep the underarm clean if the hair is not there.

Dress:

Women and men are encouraged to wear what attire is comfortable to them. Both men and women are allowed to wear pants. Jeans are an excellent choice as most Americans own a pair. Women are also able to wear skirts of any length. Of course, it is wise to use your discretion on length, especially if you have not shaven your leg hair. It is also OK for women to show their face in public.
Women will often use make-up to even out  their skin tone and accentuate different parts of their face (examples: Eyeliner around the eyes, lipstick for lips and rouge for cheeks.)
