General Info:
Trail length is 3.1 miles each way. Elevation gain is 1,500 feet. This is a moderate to strenuous hike.
Heavy use trail, but a MUST hike anyway!!
The 'sitting pine' is located at the halfway point of the trail. It's a nice spot to stop and catch your breath. :)
Once at the 'Rock' watch out for ice or wet slippery spots. It's a long and fatal drop to the bottom!

Looking Glass Rock
View from Looking Glass Rock
Although heavily hiked, Looking Glass Rock Trail makes a rewarding Day Hike with great views. The massive cliff face is visible from much of the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Mount Pisgah to Devil's Courthouse.
Trail guides say average hiking time is 3 1/2 hours, and I would say that is accurate. However, I would allow more time as you may find as I have, that you'll wish to spend more time enjoying this trail. If your looking for solitude THIS IS NOT the trail. Even on week days you'l encounter others on this trail. Take drinking water, as there is little in the way of springs near the top and for much of this hike.
