Grand Haven lights, located just west of Grand Rapids, on Lake Michigan shore in the town of Grand Haven. There are actually a pair of Lighthouse is connected by a long pier that runs from the beach to the second Lighthouse. The first Lighthouse you come upon his a 51 foot steel tower that was first build on the shore in 1839 then rebuild and moved to its current location in 1915. Its fire engine red color, makes it visible from miles away. If you continue walking out on the pier you come to a building at the end which is the second Lighthouse, it has a small tower for light at its peak. There is also a fog horn on the building to assist Mariners in the vicinity. This building is also fire engine red. Once you get around the building you notice you the unique design of its front, it might be described as being in the shape of a snow plow or in keeping with the nautical theme, the front-end of a freightier heading to sea. We were able to get to the end of the pier, making it a favorite. All along the pier there were kids playing and people fishing, the focal point of a large state Park equipped with camping facilities ,picnic facilities, swiming and many other things to enjoy.
