Grand Traverse Lighthouse is in the northwest tip of lower Michigan. If one were to see Michigan as the back of your hand,it would be located at the tip of the little finger.First built in 1851,and no longer operating,Grand Traverse has been wonderfully well restored. You feel like you have stepped back in time, with all the museum pieces adorning both the inside and grounds of the lighthouse. When we were there, restoration was just finished, and once narrow pathways were now smooth sidewalks, making it very accesable. The large white house, with its red tower is a must for lovers of lighthouses. The grounds with there hand made stone flower beds, are worth it by themselves.
