Port Sanilac Lighthouse

Port Sanilac, was built in 1886, today however, it is a private residence. The house attached to the tower, has a unique brick design, the type that will make you wonder how it was done. When you add the ivy growing up the walls of the building, it makes it a great site. You can view the tower from the street,or the parking lot next to the building. The parking lot goes all the way down to Lake Huron. Located just north of Port Huron, in the town of Port Sanilac,it is just off U.S. 23, on the east side of the state on Lake Huron. As far as accessability, the lighthouse is easily seen, but absent of sidewalks or paths. It is well worth the trip, a personal favorite. The eight sided tower is still active, and used as a important navigational site. The light once lite by kerosine, today is electric and has been sense 1924.
