Rhea our first sign up of the day!

We had a great day out in Sheffield at Millhouse's Dog Training Club 'Dogs 2000' day.  Arriving early we unpacked our little stand and placed petitions strategically about, as well as Newsletters and Posters.

The level of interest was phenominal.  We had over 500 people sign our petition, including Veterinary Surgeons and Nurses!  Everyone enjoyed bringing their beautiful tailed specimens to show off (see below!).

Mandy Rollinson took 'Molly' (Shellkirma Dame of Bonsha - see Show Wins page) a fully tailed Schipperke and 'Mickie' (Kassalmak Beau is Black at Shellkirma) a docked specimen.  Everyone was suitably shocked at the severity of the docking and 'Mickie' lapped up the attention, good practice for the shows!

It was definitely a day well spent, and I have to say that the majority of people were anti-docking.  We had a couple of heated debates - one lady claimed that a boxer's tail could 'whiplash' a small child's face, but backed down when I pointed out that Labradors and Whippets are far more exhuberant!

It was also surprising how many people with docked dogs assumed the animal was born that way, and had no comprehension of the docking procedure.  This must hand the issue back to the breeders who do not inform their customers - public demand for docking just isn't there.

Thanks must go to Millhouse Training Club for organising such a good day out.
