It all starts with the little ones
|
The Gra by age nine had mastered Tanach and the Talmud. At age six, Rebbe Nachman secretly used the outdoor mikvah. People, rather what we consider today children, at ages 13-14 would stand under the chupa. Young bochers voluntarily would learn Torah instead of playing with fellow school children.

How do people mostly pick up good or bad habits, by what they see around them. Good Chinuch is by example. Parents must realize that children will learn and take after their actions. When you deal with a situation and are impatient or angry, well that is the quality you are displaying and teaching to your child. Our holy children have the ability to stay that way, but it is up to us to show them the way. There also can never be a day when you don't have time for your children. They come first. Your life is in many ways for them and they deserve the time. You have to make time. Let the molding wait, the shopping, the extra account and be there for your children. They are our future, our life and the length of our days.

There is nothing like showing your love for the Torah and Mitzvos that will bring your child to greatness. Many of the great Tzaddikim had parents with a great heart for people and Torah. Seeing this at a young age I am sure gave them the something more which led them to perfection. We have to believe our children can grow to great heights and we have to set the atmosphere for that growth. It all starts by example. Displays in the home of shalom bayis, emunah, ahava and we must protect them from the influences of American immorality. It is time not only to protect our children but to elevate them to new heights. Heights which are not untroden but where always the pathways of our people. May Hashem help us to bring the best out of our children and people. Amen.
