Paragliding sites in Portugal
Algodres
Enjoy the beautiful narrow valley on this site and also watch the Maintain of Star in front of this site.
Algodres is a small village of Fornos de Algodres town administration. It's located at 36 Km from the cities of Guarda and Viseu. The wind in the valley tends to form a corridor. The thermals are very good.
Warnings:
 Lots of power lines and telephone lines in the valley (the landing places)
 The take off is an escarpment and sometimes it's hard and dangerous to take off.
 Sometimes the wind is tailed but you can see the thermals coming from the valley. The take off is just on top of a plan and if you go gliding within that thermals, you can face turbulence and tail winds.

How to get there:
Exit the IP5 road at Fornos de Algodres. Drive a car for 4 Km and you will get inside Fornos de Algodres. Drive throught the town up to the top of the maintain. About 3.5 Km from the town there's an X crossing. Turn right and follow the road stait. You will be passing throught Algodres about 300 metres. There will be a forest road on the right, drive or walk 300 metres and you will be in the site.

Chã de Tavares
A small village Of Mangualde administration. This site is a devotion place for Senhora do Sucesso. It's a very small hill but it can be very enjoyable for gliding with a lot of air time.

Warnings:
 The landing can be froustaded as there are many bush and pine trees.
How to get there:
Exit the IP5 at Chã de Tavares. In Chã de Tavares ask anybody for Senhora do Sucesso, they will tell you. It's not far from the village. Pass the village just a few metres and there will be a second right turn on a forest road. Follow this road till the end and you will get to an open field with a chapel on top of a hill. This is the place.

Linhares da Beira
The best known place for paragliding in Portugal. Linhares is a XII century village with a lot of history. Tio Mimoso
little put is a place here every body meets. At the landing fields there is a good restaurant. All pilotes from all levels are able to fly in this pace. It hold a European record in 1995 for 201 Km. Every year there is an international competition in this place (Open de Linhares da Beira). It takes places in August/September.
Here there is an excellent paragliding school runned by INATEL, with a group of very experienced instructors. Vitor Baía his the well known.

How to get there:
Exit the IP5 at Celorico da Beira to the EN17. Drive for about 17 Km and youl will see a big indication to Linhares da Beira.
