May 1998
The first meeting of the 1998-1999 Board of Directors was also my first meeting as President. Since taking over the office, I've found that I'm quite excited about orienteering in a new way. We could do some really neat things, and I'm going to work to make them happen.
Here are some objectives I have for my presidency:
- Closer ties with the Phoenix club. We are already moving toward this with the joint state meet in July and the new Brady Wash map to be used for the November meet.
- Map checking as a regular club activity. The first project is checking the Lake Mary map near Flagstaff to prepare for the state champs. You are cordially invited to spend Saturday, June 6, in the field with us. Don't know how to map check? Learn from an expert in the field.
- Increased visibility. The new Club t-shirts will be at the ROGAINE and following meets. Wear one when you hike or run or attend Audubon meetings. Encourage anyone who asks about orienteering to attend a meet. More people need to know about orienteering.
- Knowing what you'd like for the Club. E-mail me, call me, write to me, or come to a business meeting. Your ideas are needed and welcome.
Let's have a great year!
Peg Davis, but please call me La Jefa
