Always and Forever, Love
She laid her head upon him.
Her cheek against his chest.
He placed his chin upon her head,
And he stroked her raven tresses.
She felt his lips upon her hair.
She closed her eyes and sighed.
He wrapped his arms around her
And pulled her closer still.
She tilted her head back to him,
Eyes glistening with tears.
His lips he placed upon her brow,
Sweet, soft, and gentle wisps.
Her fingers she placed upon his face,
As though memorizing each feature.
He closed his eyes as if to capture
This magic moment forever.
He tenderly caressed her,
And held her to his breast.
She surrendered to his touch,
And found a woman dwelled within her.
He smiled down upon her,
This woman that he loved.
Her eyes pools of liquid onyx,
A soft smile illuminated her face.
His finger traced her fair features,
As they lay by the dancing fire.
She had longed so for this moment,
Harbored in the arms of his love.
His love completely surrounded her,
And to Heaven together they soared.
She savored each and every moment,
As if it were their only night of love.
He knew the dawn would soon be here.
He held her trembling hand in his.
She stroked his long dark hair,
And together they were one.
He rose from their night of love,
With a sadness in his eyes.
She held him tightly once again,
And salty tears they shared.
He donned his warrior's paint.
His pony stomped the ground.
She looked up at her Brave,
And through tears she tried to smile.
He leaned from his mount to kiss her.
A final caress from his hand.
She raised her arms up to him
Her cheek gently brushed against his.
“ Always and Forever, Love “,
He whispered softly in her ear,
She smiled, repeated the phrase,
And watched him ride away.
His pony galloped toward the sound
Of warriors and their screaming.
She dropped her face into her hands,
Her tears flowed like a river.
He rode onward toward the dust,
Battle cries growing louder.
She fell to her knees and sobbed,
Screaming out the words he whispered.
“ Always and Forever, Love.....”
