North Cascades Vacation
The North Cascades of Washington State is a beautiful area, with emerald blue lakes, majestic mountains, and of course, waterfalls.  One of the first we saw was John Pierce Falls, which drains into the gorgeous Diablo Lake.

Our favorite waterfall in this region is Emerald Pool Falls.  It took some significant rock hopping to reach the base of this waterfall, but it was worth it.

As far as all the documentation we have checked, this waterfall is not even named - not suprising though, as there are numerous roadside waterfalls in this area.  This one is right next to Gorge Creek Falls, near Newhalem.  Regardless, it was fun to play in.

The water in Diablo Lake is crystal clear.

While staying in Bellingham, we had a chance to visit nearby Whatcom State Park.  The best waterfall in this park (of the 3) is definitely Whatcom Falls.

Eagle Falls is located right along the road (Highway 2), just west of the town of Skykomish.  Though not tall, it is still quite pretty.

We spent several hours in Wallace Falls State Park, located near the town of Gold Bar.  Similar to Whatcom Park, it also has 3 falls, however, the hiking trails at Wallace Falls Park are MUCH longer - over 6 miles roundtrip to the upper cascade - we got a cardiovascular workout!  The first falls we encountered was the Lower Falls.

Middle Wallace Falls is hidden behind us in this photo.  Keep watching the waterfall pages during the next few weeks for many more waterfall photos from this trip.
