Cougar
The cougar also called the "mountain lion" or "puma" has been driven away from his natural habitat by the encroachment of man. As man has further expanded back into the woodlands once again he finds himself in competition for the same area. This magnificent creature who used to roam freely throughout the land now hides itself in the high hills and hidden valleys of the land.

Cougars range from rocky mountains to scrubby deserts, wherever prey can be found, they have the the widest distribution of any New World mammal. Cougars have been extensively hunted since Europeans arrived in the Americas. The Florida Panther, which once ranged from eastern Texas to Florida and parts of South Carolina, is now one of the most endangered of all cats; it is estimated that only 20-50 survive.
Cougars are endangered for two reasons. One, Farmers used to think they attacked their livestock, so they shot every cougar they could find. Two, like most endangered species they are losing their homes. This can be a problem. In the West cougars have made a comeback and are off the endangered species list. Now that they are protected only by hunting laws they have moved back into their old homes, which are now people's yards. As a result of that they are less afraid of humans as they should be, so they are attacking humans.
Cougars should survive for two reasons. One, They keep the population of deer down because they feed primarily on white-tailed deer. Two, No animal should be killed off by humans, they should die naturally like the dinosaurs.
