Kites, Hawks, Eagles, Falcons
At least five Bald Eagles and one Golden Eagle had returned to their traditional roost at Boneyard Draw by the afternoon of 26 November 2003. None were present (that i could detect) on 16 November 2003. I suspect they arrived ahead of the strong front of the 23rd. Pictures below were taken on the 26th.
Progressively closer pictures of an adult Bald Eagle roosting on the cliff face.

One of three seen passing over near sunset, but probably the tail end of a string of migrants.

Sharp-shinned Hawk, Accipiter striatus
An exceptionally late, or otherwise out-of-season/out-of-range Sharp-shinned Hawk was at Camp Rio Vista the evening of 5 June 2002. At one point the hawk was being flight-harassed by four Scissor-tailed Flycatchers, two Barn Swallows, a Eurasian Collared-Dove, an Orchard Oriole, and two Northern Mockingbirds. It seemed to want to hang around the camp aviary (cheap dinner), but the local wild birds were pretty adamant that it not stay around. It was present again on 6 June 2002. Jay Packer reported on in Abilene the previous week, also very late or well out of range. A pair nested in the Davis Mountains in 2000 and perhaps morre recently. One was watched as it aggressively chased an adult Red-tailed Hawk in the area of the dam at Ingram Dam Lake ??? July 2002. One chase a Common Grackle from out of a flock in a Live Oak at RV on 3 October 2002, burst ing the whole flock (tg).
Cooper's Hawk, Accipiter cooperii
A single bird, first of the fall, was harassed by three Red-shouldered Hawks before taking refuge in a dense Sugarberry at RV on 3 October 2002. I couldn't quite get the camera set before it took (tg). A Cooper's Hawk was on Cade Loop on 12 December 2002 (tg)

I don't know which picture is worse, this or the Mississippi Kite!
