One of my current projects involves hatching, raising and releasing Texas Sliders, Cagle's Map Turtles, Red-eared Sliders, and Common Snapping Turtles in a stretch of the Guadalupe River where fire ants have devastated nesting populations. Here are two of my long-time (12 years) helpers, cousins Matthew Mueller and Chris McIntosh preparing to release a batch of hatchlings in 1992.
