Wildflower gazes into the
soft clear pool.
While bathing and cooling
down from the heat
and grime of the hot day.
The water softly caressing
her as her brave
did many moons ago.
Only one night did they have
before he was
taken from her arms.
To fight in the white mans
war.
They talked, laughed and made
love and
cried at the beauty of it
all.
This one night which would
normally be
forbidden to them.
But during times of war passions
become
unbridled and lovers around
the earth.
Were spending their last moments
wrapped
in each others arms praying
and hoping
tomorrow wouldn't come.
Parting was so hard her brave
anxious to
fight for their people and
yet not wanting
to leave Wildflower's side.
Wildflower screaming from
within don't
leave, I can't live without
you now my sweet
brave.
Will our night together produce
a gift of our
love shared? I am hoping
it might as would
make it all worthwhile.
A gift of love producing a
gift of little love.
Yes my brave wherever you
are I am with child.
Your seed of love grows strong
within me.
Wonder if it will have your
soft smile.
Your beautiful dreamy eyes,
and be straight
as an arrow as you are.
I have so much to show and
teach this child growing
within me of you and our peoples
ways.
Praying to the Great Spirit
to keep you safe from harm.
Knowing so many of our braves
are falling in this
fight with the white man.
I promise you in my heart
and soul my brave.
I will raise this child as
you would have me do
if you were here at my side.
Soon we will be moving on
as now is the time of
turning colors and falling
leaves, a few warm and
hot days left of the lost
summer.
A few days left for dreaming
of the past and dreams
of tomorrow's that may never
be.
Hold me close my darling and
let me dream of what might
have been once more.
You see my darling I am racked
with longing and anguish
as you are lost to me forever.
Oh God Why?
I miss him so my love, my
brave.
Thank you for giving me this
gift of life and love.
In this I will be able to
hold him with me for the
rest of my days.
My love, my brave you are
free as the eagle,
strong as the bear, and howling
to the wind
you are once more free.
