Stunning News of Hoax in 1947:
"That's Not A
Transistor on
Shockley's bench!!!"

In a remarkable report, a renowned document forensics consultant to American Computer has announced that the photo image of an alleged Bell Labs Transistor "Test Rig" depicting William Shockley's alleged Invention, used for over 50 years by Bell Labs, is not really a Transistor: its a high back voltage microwave Rectifier prototype, invented in 1943 for use in Broadcast television, and not a Solid State Device at all!
Bell, he said, used the picture for 50 years, to successfully hide the Transistor's real origin: a reverse engineered component. Figure 1 is the photo "prop" used by Bell Labs, obtained from the Bell-Labs Museum (on-line):
Figure 1. Allegedly Faked 50 Year Old Photo
Claiming to
be a Bell Transistor
-From Bell Labs Museum-
The expert believes that Bell System photographers, in 1947 or thereafter, made this photo from a microwave rectifier diode or triode prototype (from 1943), trying to make an "official" looking 1947 Transistor photo. Had they used the actual "reverse engineering test rig" built by Shockley (see Figure 2, below), it might have been detected by Scientific Peer Review.
I believe that Bell, in fact, reversed engineered a component which had been a prototype of T.H. Moray in Salt Lake City, Utah. Even the experts believe, it fails to reflect the kind of effort that would have been recognizable to Scientists as "verifiable research" done by Bell Labs.
The purpose: to provide Bell with a phony story about "ongoing research" and an information connection between old microwave vacuum tube research, of which this is apparently an example, and "newly reversed engineering?" Bell simply hiding what the real 1947 Bell Transistor looked like because their test rig was similar looking and might have given away the true inventor of the device. They waited for enough time to pass that no one would notice that the photo in Figure 1 isn't a Transistor. Did this serve to disguise the fact that Dr. Harvey Fletcher was the conduit from which Bell "reverse engineered" the first Transistor?
A COMPLETE EXPLANATION
According to the forensic expert: The above pictured (Figure 1) "prop" device could neither amplify nor switch, nor was it a semiconductor, nor a transistor. It depicts a high voltage rectifier prototype (a diode or triode), probably from 1943, and it has a small vacuum chamber embedded in its center, implying it is a microwave-use device. From the shop keeper's Notebook in ACC's possession. The original authur of this artcicle has created a color picture of the REAL TRANSISTOR TEST RIG, without its ground plate housing, for simplicity:
Figure 2. "Shockley's" Transistor Test Rig
- A diagram (colorized from 1947, from a
lab assistant's Notebook-
Does this diagram show the "back engineering" of what was a
prototype of the
Moray Valve?
This ACTUAL DRAWING from 1947 from a lab assistant's Notebook bears no resemblance whatsoever to the FAKE TRANSISTOR picture at the top of this page and it accurately depicts the functional leads and internal parts of an NPN Transistor. It does not depict the auxiliary ground leads which would be attached to the block beneath the fused N-emitter part (left) in the drawing. It's shape closely follows the below blackboard photo.
As verification, the Forensic scientist included a stunning photo of alleged Bell Transistor inventor, William Shockley working at a blackboard during the era.
FIGURE 3. Shockley and
"accidental drawing"
-From Bell Labs Museum-
Shockley is seen pointing out the operating diagram of the Bell Transistor. Note the shape similarity to the REAL TRANSISTOR TEST RIG derived from a Lab assistant's notebook of the era by the forensic expert (Figure 2). It has been suggested that the photo in Figure 3, and the drawing on the blackboard, appear to not only resemble the Test Rig in Figure 2, but it also looks like an actual transistor as might be found today. Could this photo be another historically accurate record we now have of additional evidence that proves that the transistor was invented elsewhere? Who is conspiring to hide further such evidence as may exist?
There was only one solid-state device that could have been used in 1947 as a model: the MORAY VALVE!
Is Shockley pointing at a drawing which was guided "from reverse engineering", was it a a result of his careful, first hand viewing and analysis of the " Moray Valve," through Harvey Fletcher he had been asked to "reverse engineer?" Has, in the drawing it photographed in Figure 3, Bell Labs inadvertently revealed a significant "smoking gun" on that blackboard, a skeleton lurking in the Bell Labs closet for HALF A CENTURY?
In trying to HIDE the relationship between Harvey Fletcher from the Moray Labs, and the Bell Transistor, has Bell Labs's publicity department made an unthinkable mistake by not realizing that someday, someone would notice the Bell Transistor design was completely different than the Photo (Figure 1) used by Bell as a "Stage Prop," now for over 50 Years?
