Tours
The base camp of Rando Carpat is located at Viseul
de Jos - a village at the bottom of the Rodeni Mounts (2303
m, 7000 ft) and Maramures (1903 m, 5900 ft) (map).
1st tour - 7 days: starts on the
wonderful Vaser valley, where a small old
train runs on a narrow-gauge line «as in Jules Verne times»,
and then continues climbing on the Rodeni Mount, volcanic range with interesting
geological, botanic and animal aspects, protected since 1980 by the
UNESCO as a preservation area.
2nd tour - 14 days: it extends the
previous tour by a week in the northern Moldavia (Bucovina), a very picturesque
area, renowned for the sweetness of its landscape, the charm of its country
architecture, and its monasteries
form the XIV - XVst century, protected by the UNESCO for their external
frescos.
Other tours on request: for example,the
Isa valley, at the traditionnal heart of the Maranures, a region of peacefull
hills and fascinating villages, which is at best visited during the Maramuzical
festival of traditional music.
Lodging: on the way, you ca either
camp outdoors, either sleep in forest
huts, refuges, mountain huts, or by the locals
according to the tour and the comfort level required.
