"I went into a gallery back in 1943, saw a painting I
liked, and asked the price," Red explained.
"The man said, "Five thousand wouldn't buy it.' I told him,
'I'm one of the 5,000.' Then I went outand bought a 73 cent canvas and some paints."

'one of the greatest. "Let other guys claim to be the best. I just want
to be known as a clown because to me, that's the height of my
profession. Itmeans you can do everything -- sing, dance and, above all, make
people laugh."
