In this photo you see a large pool which is just downstream from Deep Creek Hotsprings! Bet you all didn't know there were pools this big along the creek, eh :-) Actually this pic show one of the treats of sailin at Lake Mohave. Sunsets like these are a common occurence in the crisp clear desert environment. On this evening I remember sitting on a hillside above the lake while waiting for the sunset. This hillside was covered with flowers from the spring rains in the desert. Its really something to see. Yes thats a tree in the water. In the spring the lake level is highest and many trees along the shore are in the water which provides for great explorations with a snorkel and mask. I've seen catfiish, trout, bass, stripped bass, crappie, carp, bluegills, the rare and endangered humpbacked chub, turtles, snakes and once even a beaver, all while snorkeling around the trees near shore. Yes there are actually beavers that live along the shores of lake Mohave. Beavers that live in the desert have little radiators on thier backs :-) The water in some coves can be close to 85 degrees in mid summer with 40 foot visability and I can tell ya its just like being in a big, wonderfully warm, aquarium!
