Well
good god, an update. It's been what... almost five
years since my last update? This page is obviously way out
of date, but judging by that counter down there, it still
seems like it still gets a few hits every now and then.
As for the X-Files, let's just say that a college schedule
isn't terribly conducive to keeping up with a television
series. I pretty much stopped watching after the sixth season
because I couldn't keep up with it. However, I made it a
point not to miss the series finale a few months ago. Always
sad to see a great series go.
Anyways, you are all invited to check out my new website
if you're at all interested: The
Audience is Now Deaf. It has absolutely nothing to do
with X-Files (at the moment), but I did my best to make
it entertaining. I just overhauled it a last week, so content
is a little thin. Just a little something to check out if
you're at all interested in me.
Ok, no more shameless plugs, I promise. Thanks for sticking
with Domain X everyone. Hopefully FortuneCity won't go under
and this page will remain standing as a resource for people
who wonder what the show used to be like. Peace out. |

|
| Woohoo!
An update! Yep... I know it's been almost three months
since I last updated Domain X. I just got a message
from someone saying that my site had been mentioned
in the print media, specifically The Winnipeg Sun's
Preview (TV Guide) as an impressively maintained
site dealing with The X-Files. If anyone has any info
on this, I'd really appreciate it as I am unfamiliar
with the publication. It's good to know that I'm getting
recognition despite the fact that I haven't updated
in cough..., hack... 3 months... wheeze..., ahem. Incidentally,
I've noticed my hits have increased twofold this past
week, which leads me to suspect that something is up...
hmm... Anyways...
about The X-Files (Oh, is that what this page is about?).
So far, I've really enjoyed season six. I know others
have denounced the show as a degenerating mess of
gimmicks and references, but I've definitely found
the change of pace to be quite refreshing. I thought
Dreamland (where Mulder switches bodies)
was a riot. And while Triangle did seem a
little too gimmickly (just a little, mind
you), I thought the camera work was great. All and
all, it seems like if this is indeed the last season,
then it's going to go out with a bang. For those of
you who prefer the morose out there, it looks like
things will be tightening up next week with the situation
involving Skinner, so I wouldn't give up yet.
As for the page,
I actually do have free time now... really. Whether
or not I choose to update the page really depends
on how long that free time lasts. Suffice it to say
that I have a lot of catching up to do with season
six and all, and that I really hope that I can get
back to this page on at least a weekly basis. Those
of you who have kept coming back... I really appreciate
your patronage, and I haven't forgotten you -- let's
hope I can get things back up to speed soon. Thanks
everyone.
P.S. -- I just
have to get this out of me... all that college stuff
wasn't a complete waste after all. It looks like I'm
going to be spending the next four years at Stanford!
Woohoo! Sunny weather and beautiful beaches....mmm.... |

| Whew. The
past two weeks have really been something. College apps
really are as time consuming as everyone says they are.
For all of you adults out there who have gone through
the whole thing, please feel free to shower me with
advice / past experiences, etc. Enlighten
me. Incidentally, I'm doing this research paper
in Bio II on a disease, xerodoma pigmentosa. Sound familiar?
It should. Check out Bad Blood -- Scully mentions
it in her little spiel to Mr. Buck-teeth early in the
show. Ok, enough of me...
For those of you who saw the Emmys a couple
of weekends ago, I must say I'm a bit disappointed
that XF walked away empty-handed. Though I would have
liked to see it win Best Drama, I can't argue against
the great shows which did win awards. We live in a
great age, at least in respect to entertainment. And,
oh yeah, Garry Shandling and David Duchovny were great.
So, what's up with the recent news?

The
Top 100 TV Shows of All Time [Source:
Miri]
Seems like Entertainment Weekly has one of their
new "books" out -- The
Top 100 TV Shows of All Time.
To save you the suspense... The
X-Files is ranked 5th. Not
bad for a Fox show, heh. Just
kidding. Supposedly, the accompanying
picture is pretty snazzy, so I'd
recommend checking out this title.

Major
Deal with Fox TV [Source: Miri, Reuters/Variety]
Check out this large snippet of information:
'X-Files'
creator signs
major deal with
Fox TV
By Jenny
Hontz
HOLLYWOOD
(Variety)
- "The
X-Files"
creator Chris
Carter has
signed a production
deal with
20th Century
Fox TV, which
sources said
was worth
$25-$30 million
over five
years.
The exclusive
pact includes
a first-look
feature component
and calls
for him to
develop at
least one
new series
for Fox Broadcasting
Co. next fall.
He will remain
as executive
producer of
"The
X-Files"
for at least
two more seasons
and "Millennium"
for at least
one more,
while he develops
new projects
for Fox under
his Ten Thirteen
Prods. banner.
In valuing
the deal,
sources said
it was about
on par with
the deal Warner
Bros. TV made
recently for
"ER"
executive
producer John
Wells. When
the film and
TV components
and "The
X-Files"
profit advances
are
factored in,
sources say
Carter could
take home
more than
$100 million.
Neither 20th
nor Carter
would comment
on terms of
the deal.
Carter's next
series for
fall 1999
is likely
to be a sci-fi
drama based
on a comic
book called
"Harsh
Realm,"
which Carter
is expected
to write and
Dan Sackheim
("The
X-Files")
will direct,
Carter said.
Fox would
actually like
Carter to
develop a
second new
drama for
next fall,
if he has
the time,
but Carter
called that
"wishful
thinking."
"There
are other
things I want
to do,"
he told Daily
Variety. "But
it's really
about the
workload and
not forsaking
the shows
that are already
dear to me."
Carter's feature
deal with
20th Century
Fox makes
a reality
Fox's desire
to turn "The
X-Files"
into a feature
film franchise,
much like
"Star
Trek"
is for Paramount.
This summer's
"X-Files"
feature has
earned nearly
$150 million
in worldwide
grosses, and
sources say
"The
X-Files"
stars David
Duchovny and
Gillian Anderson
have already
agreed to
star in the
next feature,
intended for
a 2000 release.
Carter joined
20th Century
Fox in 1992,
and his deal
resulted in
one of the
company's
most-profitable
franchises
and earned
him multiple
Emmy nominations
for his writing
and directing
on "The
X-Files."
As it enters
its fifth
season, "The
X-Files"
is still Fox's
highest-rated
series, and
its value
to News Corp.
is estimated
more than
$1 billion.

It has been confirmed -- the video of
the summer feature film will be
released on October 13
as expected. It will be available
in pan-and-scan and widescreen
format, and it will include
new, never-before-seen footage
regarding one of the show's most
evasive subjects [rumored to be
a "disclosure by the Well-Manicured
Man to Mulder regarding Samantha
Mulder's role in the Project."
Hmm...] plus interviews
with Gillian Anderson and Chris
Carter. Looks like a
pretty good deal.

Well, there it is. Hopefully, there
won't be such a long period of inactivity from now until the
next update. For all of you who are sticking to the site, I
really appreciate it. More to come...
Just one more little thing.
They're showing The End this Sunday on Fox (8:00 CT)
-- great opportunity for those of you who missed it the first
time around.

| Thanks to
Labor Day, I got a long weekend, so I figured... great
time to update my webpage. I've had a load of pictures
sitting on my hard drive in some obscure directory the
past couple months, so they're finally up in the Archives.
Probably about 30-40 new ones. And check out the new
quote on top -- I'll be updating that every now and
then.
Just yesterday, I picked
up a copy of Show World (the television guide for
Austin's newspaper) and I noticed an article written
by the LA Times titled 'X-Files' to retain gloomy
mood despite move to L.A. Judging from the responses
from Chris and Gillian, it seems as if things are
going well in California. Those of you interested
might want to check out the article -- great news.

| Woohoo! An
update finally! School's been a little more demanding
than I would have liked it, so any, uh, promises I made
a couple of weeks ago probably were a bit optimistic.
However, it looks as if things are finally starting
to spin down, so things should be looking up. Onwards

Fight
the Future in the UK [Source: The XF Mining
Co.]
Some figures for you box office nuts
out there -- FTF opened on top
at the British box office (weekend
of August 21-23) with a total
of £2,506,148. That would equate to about £5,981
per screeen over 419 screens.
More
news about the movie from the
rumor mill. Apparently Blockbuster
Video has cited the release date
of the movie as October 13, 1998
rather than the November date
which had before been expected.
Seeing how Chris Carter's birthdate
is October 13, it's possible this
may turn out to be the truth.
