Unfortunately Erica Gimpel's part in the first series of North and South wasn't a really big one. I only watched it because I though I caught a glimpse of her and I was right! I was so happy to see that. You see, the problem then was that you couldn't really find out much about her, because there wasn't a real Fame-mania in Germany, so the actors were all not too famous here! So you could only hope to watch the right movies and series (BTW, does anyone have the episode of Spenser in which she gueststarred???).

It's there again

Right now they are showing North and South on the German cable station "Kabel1" again (Sundays at about 6pm to 8 pm). They started last week (Oct.11th 1998), so I am looking forward to taping all the episodes, though I'd love to have the original versions!!! I hate those translated shows. They usually have such different voices!

For those who don't know the plot of North and South here a short (really short) summary. It is about the friendship of Orry Main and James (???) Hazard. One of them (Orry, played by Patrick Swayze) is from the South the other one (surprise) from the North. Even though they are facing difficult times (the civil war) they stay friends and later (in the second season, where Erica Gimpel has a slightly bigger part) the families become even related as Orry's sister Brett marries James' brother Billy. I must admit, I haven't seen the 3rd season yet! Anyways, there's also this love affair going on between Orry and Madeline who is married to a different guy ... but hey, you better check that out at the website I listed on the next page in the links section, because my main focus of the series was Erica Gimpel and not that mushy love affair!
