Before I get continue where I left off a few details about the background to
the series. One of, if not the, most prolific producers of Indian dramas is Ekta Kapoor
and the standing joke is that all the titles of her TV series start with the letter 'K'.
It will come as no surprise the Ekta Kapoor is the producer of Kaahiin Kissi Roz and other
dramas featuring strong women characters. There is little doubt that she hit the jackpot
with the casting of KKR. Sudha Chandran is almost perfect as the scheming Ramola Sikand,
Mouli Ganguly is perfect for the role of the put upon daughter (Shaina) and Yash Tonk is
also a highly paid and competent actor though his role as Shaina's husband, Kumal doesn't
demand much of him except to look bemused and bewildered as the powerful women around him
plot and counter plot.
The last article finished with Shaina being arrested for the attempted murder of her
brother in law. Whilst I appreciate I am skipping whole chunks of the plot it is necessary
to fit everything in. One of the classic scenes and one repeated in other episodes is of
Ramola, gun in hand, searching through abandoned mansions looking to suppress some kind of
incriminating document against her or wanting to silence somebody. Here is one such
classic scene where Ramola is on such a mission.
One of Ramola's most diabolical schemes was the betrayal of Nisha (Gauri Tonk) another of her daughter in laws. Nisha had been tricked by Ramola to help her destroy Shaina's life and credibility. However the penalty for trusting a woman like Ramola are severe. Nisha is persuaded to hold Shaina at gunpoint whilst the police arrive to arrest Shaina for a trumped up crime. Shortly after Shaina manages to grab the gun from Nisha, Ramola's master plan comes to fruition.
Standing at a vantage point Ramola takes careful aim and shoots Nisha dead. Once again Shaina is found gun in hand at the scene of a murder and even dim but nice Kumal has no option to believe his mother that Shaina is indeed a cold blooded murderess.
Well
that is two parts over and I there is still a lot more to tell. So there will be at least
one more installment featuring this fascinatingly addictive soap. Expect to see more of
Ramola Sikand in deadly form as she takes her scheming and vendettas to new levels. Also
expect to see more of the following deadly lady, Avanti Rajpal (Sushmita Mukherjee) -
Ramola's arch enemy.
