A while ago I asked who this actress was. Several of you identified her as Randi Brooks (Brazen) who has appeared within these pages before playing a villainess from the TV series 'Magnum'. The next set of clips are from the TV action series 'Airwolf' which starred a helicopter as it's hero. Randi plays the part of Elena who is a leading member in a team of assassins. During a bungled getaway one of the members is shot by a cop (but Elena soon puts paid to his heroics) and they take refuge in a remote community which has a doctor.
Upon
arrival the gang soon kidnap and subjugate the locals and force the doctor to help their
injured colleague. Of course the 'Airwolf' team get involved in the action and arrive to
save the day and see the unfortunate Elena plummet to earth in a blazing helicopter. The
real beauty of this episode is the Elena character. She actually looks mean and moody
throughout and if looks could kill her tally of victims would have been in double figures.
But the show was a prime time action show so you can't have too much blood and violence.
As a result Elena is mainly restricted to acting nasty (which she does admirably) and,
apart from the cop killing, threatening people with her silenced pistol.
I'm afraid the following vidcaps are only here because the film was recently on UK TV and it gave me the chance to get some decent vidcaps at last. The film is 'Silent Trigger' and is one of those Dolph Lundgren action man films. It is one of his better films (which isn't saying much) but is made so much better by the presence of lovely English actress Gina Bellman. She plays his cohort or maybe his nemesis. Dolph's job is to carry out an assasination and Gina's job is to make sure he does it. Once he has carried out the job he is expendable. Gina does a fine job at playing the mystery woman and once again is one of those actresses who doesn't look out of place in the action girl role - pity she's never played a similar character again.
It has always been my policy to try and find things a little different. A
while ago I came across a neat Australian action thriller called "Singapore Sling:
Road to
Mandalay". As you can see from the
quality of the vidcaps it appeared on a terrestrial channel where my reception was very
poor. But it was such a good silencer scene I thought you'd like to see the vidcaps even
if they weren't up to scratch. In this scene the morally ambiguous character Carla
(Josephine Byrnes) is prepared to take very drastic action to find who is responsible for
consignments of counterfeit drugs - but does she want to know for ulterior motives?
Lastly, here are a few scenes from the defunct sci-fi series 'Dark Skies'. This series was short lived and from my point of view cancelled far too soon. There are actually two scenes featured here. Sci-fi stalwarts will probably notice Jeri Ryan is the main protagonist in the second series of captures. Ms Ryan played a Russian agent involved in the plot to stop alien infiltration of earth society. But as this series is set mainly in the 1960's she plays a character who is both ruthless and deadly and whose methods to secure Earth's security are not always in harmony with others in the series. My only criticism of the series is that the title of the series ("Dark Skies") often matches the night time settings of the scenes meaning the vidcaps tend to be rather dark too.
As usual I will finish with a few odds and ends. Many of these may have appeared before (but worth a re-view) and some not.
