Introduction

It's a source of my amusement to see how polarized are the reactions of critics and audiences toward certain movies. Despite having been universally panned by the critics, the majority of letters I receive from fans, list Dying Young as one of their favorites, if not their pivotal Campbell Scott movie.

I love this movie.I think the title is the movie's major shortcoming; Nobody dies young in the movie. I suppose it has to do with a line in the Marti Leimbach novel, uttered by the father, Richard Geddes "There's nothing natural about dying so young."

I remember when this movie hit the theaters in 1991.I remember that the reviews for the storyline were negative, but the critics thought the performances by the stars, especially Campbell's were excellent. I didn't know his name, but I remember thinking that the fellow in the print ad was not particularly attractive (I publicly take to task the designer of the ad which features an unflattering photo of a really handsome fellow).

This is the movie that I rented during my Christmas vacation 1999. This is the movie that I watched five times, at which I wept copiously every time. This is the movie that launched the Campbell Scott Fan Page. Have I belabored the point of my fondness for this movie?

As with my Campbell Scott Companion Site, I created this site for two reasons, not all selfless. First, I wanted to learn about web design; second, I wanted to let the internet community know about this wonderful movie. As I was building, I tasted a little bit of Java, some frames, and even style sheets. I am aware that frames are a royal pain for non-frames users, but I was so very curious about them. I hope you find this site informative. Please let me know.

(31 Jan 2004) I'm proud to announce that Fox has finally released Dying Young to DVD region 1. I'd like to give you all the credit for it, but I hadn't mailed the petition! Every signature was appreciated, though. Thank you. Now back to our regular program.
