Nine Inch Nails "Hurt" The Downward Spiral (c) 1994 nothing/tvt/interscope records Written by Trent Reznor GM Sequencing by Warren Rice, Seattle, WA. I've provided both .MID and .WRK versions of this sequence. The .WRK is a Cakewalk Professional 3.0 file and contains markers to help you follow along. I usually whine about GM guitars, but these turned out sufficiently close to the original, so I'll spare you (Maybe I'm just getting better). The vocal track is missing, as usual. One special note: Track 5 (Rain) is NOT the same as the FX1 (rain) synth in General Midi bank 0. If you'll notice the bank is set for 1. On the SCC1, patch 123 bank 1 gives an actual Rain sample. If your card doesn't recognize the bank switch, you'll hear something that sounds like waves crashing on a beach which is NOT the desired effect. If you hear waves instead of rain, mute the track. The actual song has static distortions in the background, and this is intended to mimic that effect. This sequence took between 5 and 6 hours to complete. This is now my eighth General MIDI sequence. All have been uploaded to AOL. The others are: Nine Inch Nails: "Head Like a Hole" "Something I Can Never Have" "Closer" "Dead Souls" and now... "Hurt" Smashing Pumpkins: "Disarm" Oingo Boingo: "Dead Man's Party" "Skin" I'll have more on the way soon. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, drop me an Email on AOL. - WARRENR287
