David Fumero (Cristian, One Life to Live)
The Few, The Proud...
Instead of enrolling in college right after high school, David Fumero
made a pit stop at the U.S. Marine Corps. "I went to the service because
I wanted to be different from all my friends," says the Cuban-born,
Miami-bred actor. "I was gung ho because Marines are tough, and I
wanted to be a Rambo type." Fumero's enthusiasm temporarily was squelched,
though, just two weeks before he finished his basic training. "I fractured
my ankle, so I couldn't pass the test and end up spending another
month in boot camp doing medical rehabilitation," he explains. "When
I got better, I spent seven months in Parris Island and got a medical
discharge after a year." It was then that he made a beeline for college.
"I started school as soon as I got home," he concludes. "I had to
catch up to my friends."
