"Stage Manager says that your fight with Mr. Honshi will be next, Ms Zhang," he said. "Please come with me." Chun-li nodded, and placed her thoughts for later. She walked out of the dressing room, following the man, who lead her to a ring where Ryu was waiting. A large crowd was gathered around the ring, cheering and hollering. Chun-li looked up and saw Mr. Walker, sweating up an ocean. Apparently, the crowd didn't like the exhibition very well. When Walker saw her, he visually relaxed. "Alright folks, here the main attraction! The fight between Ryu Honshi and Chun-li Zhang!!" There was some crazy cheering, and Chun-li was let into the ring. Chun-li looked around and saw Cammy near the back stage entrance, give her a thumbs up sign. Chun-li looked into the crowd, and saw Shampoo, smiling happily, while hugging onto an uncomfortable looking boy with a pigtail. Cologne, however, looked much less pleased than Shampoo, and Chun-li noted this little fact. Out of the corner of her eye, Chun-li saw Ryu move to the center of the ring, so she did the same. They bowed, and someone yelled "FIGHT!!!" Hearing the magic word, Chun-li sprang into a ready position, and Ryu did the same. Then, without warning, he jumped towards her, shouting, and spinning out a hurricane kick. Chun-li managed to lunge underneath him, and when he landed, tripped him. Ryu landed on his hands and sprung up to his feet. Before his toes even touched the ground, he fired off a fireball, which Chun-li blocked. But the block wasn't enough, and she slid back a few feet from the force. Then, she let out a kioken which canceled out Ryu's next fireball. She flipped onto her hands, and whirled wind kicked at Ryu. She saw Ryu's eyebrows narrow, and he managed to block the majority of her kicks. Chun-li cheered silently when she felt a kick connected with his chest. Then, her eyes went wide when she realized that the kick wouldn't keep him down for very long, and that he had only taken the kick, so that he could execute a very painful Dragon Punch right to her stomach. Chun-li gave a cry and was thrown back, outside the ring, and into some spectators. Chun-li groaned, but refused to admit defeat. She wobbled to her feet and stumbled back to the ring to get back in, only to see that someone was standing where she was suppose to be! A young man with unruly hair stood opposite Ryu, holding a bokken in one hand, wearing a kendo uniform. "Vagabond!! How dare you hit a woman! I shall teach you the follies of hurting the fair maiden! PREPARE TO DIE!!" "Hey, what are you doing?!" Chun-li demanded, getting into the ring. Her question was ignored when the boy ran right up to Ryu and started to thrust at him with his wooden sword. Ryu managed to dodge all the thrusts and with a fire ball, sent the boy flying through the air. Total pandemonium broke out right then, as various other martial artists marched onto the ring, and the demonstration soon turned into a riot. Somewhere in the middle of the riot, Mr. Walker gave a sob at the total wash out of an exhibition. ***************************************************************** Cammy knocked on the door of her friend's room. She heard a grunt, but didn't here any foot steps getting closer to open the door, so, she opened the door herself, and walked into Chun-li's room. "Hey, Chun-li! Where are you??" Cammy called. There was a groan near the back of the room, and Cammy finally found Chun-li lying face down in her bed. "Hey, you okay?" "I'm fine." Chun-li mumbled, turning over. "I'm in total pain and agony, but I'm fine." "Riiiiight," Cammy replied. "You took a Dragon Punch right in the belly. Shouldn't you're intestines trying to be crawling out of your mouth by now?" Chun-li didn't answer. Instead, she asked a question. "So why are you here?" "To tell you the results of the fight," Cammy replied cheerfully. "Thanks to that dude who interrupted the fight, it was considered a tie." "Yeah. Right. Ryu was going to win. Anyone could see that so how did they come to this conclusion?" Cammy shrugged. "Beats me. All I know is, you get a rematch sometime next week." "Fun. I guess I'll be doing some last minute training." Chun-li grumbled. "Right," Cammy replied. "I have to last minute train too. I have a fight next week also, against some new comer named Ranma Saotome." Cammy cracked her knuckles. "So come on. Get up and spar with me." "Fun." Suddenly, there was another knock at the door. Chun-li didn't move to get out of bed, so Cammy went to open the door. "Who are you?" "I would like to see Chun-li. Is she here?" "Yeah, but who are you?" The person didn't answer and instead walked right past Cammy and over to the Chun-li. The person tsked. "One hit, and you're down for the count? What kind of Amazon are you?" Chun-li got up and recognized Cologne, who was staring at her with disappointment. "What do you want, Elder Cologne?" Cologne thought about the wording for a moment. "I... am here to congratulate you." "On what?" Chun-li asked, "I practically lost that fight." "You TIED," Cammy insisted. "I was thrown out of the ring. Sure, there isn't a ring out rule in this tournament, but in MY books, I lost." Chun-li grumbled. "In my books as well," Cologne replied. "Which is why I'm here to congratulate you. You're getting married." Both Chun-li and Cammy simply stared at Cologne before Cammy laughed. "I'd better improve on my Japanese! I could have sworn you said that Chun-li was getting married." "I did." Cologne said flatly, "when an Amazon woman is beaten in a fight by an outsider male, then the Amazon must marry him. That is Amazon Law." "Sure," Cammy replied, "and why, exactly, would this law apply to Chun-li?" "Chun-li is an Amazon." "Chun-li is an Amazon," Cammy repeated, a look of annoyance on her face. "Right, look, old lady. Who ever you are, I think you need to book an appointment with a mental doctor really fast. I also think you should leave now. Chun-li isn't feeling too well, and she needs her rest. The door is over there." Cologne looked at Cammy, an eyebrow cocked. "Interesting thoughts," she said. "Who, pray tell, are you?" "My name is Cammy White," Cammy replied. "I'm Chun-li's friend. Now, leave." "You have a look of haunting in her eyes, Miss White." Cologne said. "Perhaps I may be of assistance?" "What are you talking about, a look of haunting?" "Do you suffer from amnesia?" Cologne asked. She noted the look of surprise on Cammy's face. "Yes, well, if you insist, Miss White. I will leave." Cologne turned to Chun-li for a moment and threw a card at her. Chun-li caught it. "Come to the Nekohanten tonight." Then, the old lady left. Cammy shuttered. "That old woman scares me. Who is she anyway? Why did she call you an 'amazon'? Why did she say you were getting married?" Chun-li sighed. "I have something to tell you." ***************************************************************** "You know, maybe you should give up on Bison's head." Cammy said softly. "I mean, is it worth having to become an amazon?" She asked. "I'd do things worse than this, and you know it," Chun-li replied. Cammy sighed. "If you insist." Chun-li looked up at the restaurant. "Nekohanten," she said softly. "It looks like a restaurant," Cammy said. "Are you sure this is the place?" Chun-li nodded. "Yup." They went inside. The restaurant was nice and pleasant atmosphere, but there was no one in the place. There was a curtain on the doorway to the kitchen, and this was lifted. A girl Chun-li recognized as Shampoo looked out at them. "Nihao, welcome to Nekohanten! Oh, is Chun-li. Please sit. Great-grandmother come see you soon." Shampoo said. Chun-li and Cammy looked at each other, before doing as the teenage girl said. A few moments later, Cologne came, hoping in on her walking stick. "You came," Cologne stated. She brought out a thick book and put it on the table in front of Chun-li, who stared at it. "What's this?" "Amazon handbook. Everything you need to know about being an Amazon, such as laws and customs and such, are in this book." Cologne said. "Please turn to page 306, Chapter 6, section 3 paragraph 2." Chun-li opened the book to the page, and read the paragraph. As she read it, she began to pale. She stared up at Cologne. "You don't expect me to FOLLOW this, do you?" "Oh, yes. I do," Cologne said. "You are an Amazon now, Chun-li. You will follow every single law in this book. Do you understand?" "But, if I have to follow this law... I'd have literally DOZENS of husbands!" Chun-li shouted. "No, that was BEFORE you were an Amazon." Cologne replied smoothly. "Anything and everything you did before you became an Amazon if null and void. Only did the very moment you agreed to be an Amazon did these laws apply to you." Cammy looked at this with confusion. "What's the matter, Chun-li? What does the thing say?" Cammy managed to grab the book, and read it. "If an Amazon is beating by an outside male in combat, she must marry him. If an Amazon is beating by an outside female in combat, she must give her the kiss of death, and kill her promptly, or she will never return to the village ever again." Cammy looked up. "So... you have to follow this, Chun-li?" She asked, an incredulous look on her face. "Yes she does," Cologne answered. "No she doesn't!" Chun-li objected. "What if I refuse to follow this law?" "Then you will no longer be an Amazon." "Fine, that sounds fair," Chun-li said. "I just won't be an Amazon!" Cologne's eyes narrowed, but she had a grin on her face. "Do you want to do that, Chun-li?" She asked, "you can still take it back, if you want the information I have." Chun-li grit her teeth, torn with indecisiveness. "I... I..." Cammy rolled her eyes. "Chun-li, it's an easy decision! You aren't going to give up your love life for some stupid information that's probably wrong anyway, are you?" "Well... I..." Cammy stared at Chun-li. "You're actually considering it?!" "But Cammy, Cologne DOES know something I don't, and I have to know it!" Chun-li insisted. "I..." "I don't see why you are in such agony over this decision," Cologne said coolly. "Ryu isn't a bad catch." ~She's right about that,~ Chun-li thought to herself. ~Oh.... what the hell! I have to know everything there is to know about Bison!~ Chun-li stared at Cologne. "I'll do it!" "WHAT?!" Cammy shouted. "Excellent!" Cologne said proudly. "Now, about the information..." Chun-li said. "Of course." Cologne eyed Cammy. "I'm afraid that it's for Amazon ears only. You'll have to come with me." Cologne motioned to Cammy. "You, sit. I'll tell Shampoo to get your order in a moment." Then, Chun-li went with Cologne leaving Cammy shocked and frustrated. "I don't believe this!" Cammy hissed to herself, plopping into a chair. She knew that Chun-li's weakness WAS Bison, but she couldn't believe that her friend would let some old woman manipulate her so easily. "Welcome to Nekohanten. My name Shampoo. Can I take your order?" A girl asked. Cammy looked up at Shampoo, who blinked down at her. Cammy thought about it for a moment, before decided to ask this girl about Amazon hood. "Are you an Amazon too?" Shampoo nodded. "What exactly, does an amazon do?" Shampoo seemed surprised at the question. "Shampoo no understand your question." She replied. "I mean, like... okay, what's an Amazon?" Shampoo wrinkled her brow. "Amazon is any woman who is fighter that come from my village." "Sorta like a title for member of a club." "Something like that." Cammy frowned. "Why does that old woman want Chun-li to be an Amazon so badly?" Shampoo shrugged. "Me no know. Great grandmother do many, many thing Shampoo no understand. But she say is for the best so Shampoo trust her." Cammy's frown deepened. "So, you trust her out of blind faith?" She asked. Shampoo thought about this for a moment, before she nodded. "Shampoo guess so." Cammy sighed. "Great. You can't help me then," she mumbled, getting to her feet. She headed to the door. "Wait," Shampoo called. "You no want order food?" "No thank you." "Yes!" Shampoo shouted, jumping to her feet and ripping off her apron. She then brought out a basket of some sort from out of no where, and headed for the door. "Now Shampoo can go see Ranma!" Cammy stopped and looked at Shampoo. "Ranma? Ranma Saotome?" She asked. Shampoo looked at Cammy suspiciously. "How you know Airen's name?" Shampoo's eyes narrowed. "You no another fake fiancee for Shampoo's husband, are you?" Cammy raised an eyebrow. "No!" Cammy replied. She noted that Shampoo visibly relaxed. "Why would you think that?" Shampoo ignored Cammy's question. "If you not another one of Ranma's fiancee, then Shampoo no have bone to pick with you! Bai bai, Shampoo go to Ranma's now." "Wait," Cammy said, "uh, I'm his opponent for his first World Champion fight! I want to meet him first. Do you think you can bring me with you?" "You know hurt Ranma?" Shampoo asked, suspicious again. "Because if you do, Shampoo have to hurt you back." "Ah...uh... no. I won't hurt him... at least, not until the tournament." "Okay then. Follow Shampoo." Shampoo darted out the door, and Cammy followed, after blinking in surprised. However, once out the door, Cammy couldn't find Shampoo. "Hey! Where did you go?!" Cammy shouted. "Up here," Shampoo replied. Cammy looked up, and saw the Chinese girl, standing on top of a wall, with an impatient look on her face. "Follow Shampoo!" Shampoo repeated. "Unless... you no good enough balance to keep up?" Cammy laughed. "I accept your challenge!" She jumped up on to the wall and was pleased to find that it was much like the catwalk she fought on back in Britain. *****************************************************************
