***************************************************************** Guards of the Senshi Pre Wanderings 1: Sailor Gemini A 'Wonderings of Reality' Story Written by Jenny 'Android18' Chan android18@hotmail.com www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Pagoda/index.html ***************************************************************** "Good morning Rex," "Good morning, Serenity. Why have you phoned me?" "Oh, I just called to tell you that we've gone over all the candidates for the Zodiac Division. "Oh good. Have you picked the ones out?" King Rex Jupiter asked over the audio-visual screen. "Almost, we only need a Sailor Gemini," Queen Serenity told him over the video. "Oh, and, guess what? You get to pick him or her out. All the other rulers have had their choice of senshi. It's your turn now." "Great, I'll get over there right away." "Then I suppose I'll see you by this afternoon now?" "Of course." ***************************************************************** "Sir?" Asked an intern nervously. "Sir? Your private plane is ready." King Jupiter got onto the plane with his fellow passengers and got onto the plane. His guard and good friend, John Shock, also known as Sailor Drago, followed him on board. (Picture Jedite's uniform with a white trim and an eight pointed start for a button. That's my male version of a Sailor Scout uniform.) "Really, John, you don't need to come with me." Jupiter replied with a wave of his hand. "It's just a business trip. I'll be back by tomorrow. Now go home!" John shook his head a grin on his face. "Look Rex, you've asked me to go home for the fifth time in as many minutes! I'll tell you again. I'm not going!" "Well, I thought you said it was your daughters' birthday today?" John nodded. "Yes. I'm bringing the twins to the Moon Kingdom as a present. They're already on the plane." Rex blinked a few times as the thought registered. "Oh. Alright then, get on the plane!!" The two men got on the plane and sure enough, a pretty, middle aged women sat in a seat while two 3 year olds played around on the ground. And elderly man was also on the plane. The women hushed her twins and stood up as the King of all Jupiter boarded the plane. "Good morning, King Jupiter," replied the women as her daughters stood at attention by her feet. "Good to see you again, Rex, Draco." Replied the man. Both Rex and John bowed. "Good morning Master Lation. What brings you here?" Asked John. "Dadda!! Mako-dadda!" Replied the little girls in unison. Then, they burst into giggles. "Hello Dear. Hey Jene! Hey Janet!" Replied Sailor Draco. "Who loves Jene and Janet?" "Mama n Dadda!!" Replied the girls. "Good morning, Roberta. Good morning Jene and Janet." Replied the King as he sat in his chair. The family sat down and one of the little girls ran up to her king and tugged on his pants. "Maaaako?" She asked. The king smiled. "You're?" "Jeeene." "Hello Jene. Mako's at home today." King Jupiter replied. Jene pouted. "Oh." The plane took off, the robotic pilot doing a wonderful job of keeping the plane steady. The three men sat in a circle. Rex spoke up. "You never did answer our question. What brings you here? Shouldn't you be scouting out potential candidates?" "Ah, but I am. In fact, there is a candidates on this plane right now!" Both John and Rex gasped. "What? Where?" Lation motioned to the little girls who were playing near the back of the plane. "Your daughter, Janet!" John sputtered. "Janet?! But she's only 3 years old!" "And she has much potential. I witnessed the magic she displayed while waiting for you." Lation replied. "Magic??" John fell quiet as he saw Janet throw a ball of fire at her sister. It landed on Jene's shirt, and promptly disappeared without the girl noticing. "Oh my. She's never done that before." "You need to pay more attention to your children," Lation chided. "You've been on so many missions and what not, you've missed your children growing up." The old man gave Rex a sideways glance. "When Janet grows up, I'm sure she'll make wonderful Constellational Senshi. She may even make it into the Zodiac division..." Rex shook his head. "No. As skillful as the twins are, I want MY daughter's `training wheels' to be mastered senshi!" Lation shrugged. "I'm sure I'll be able to change your mind." ***************************************************************** The plane was somewhere over Mars, traveling at top speed. One of the people on Mars, looked up, and saw the plane. She sighed. A look of unbearable sadness clouded her ruby eyes. Just then, she heard a giggling and had to disappear behind a bush. Two little girls ran by. One of them was Rei, the future Sailor Mars. The other was Setsuna, the future Sailor Pluto. They ran up to their parents, a few meters away. Queen Mars scooped up Rei and gave her a fierce hug. "Oh Rei..." she whispered softly. "Where have you been? I've been so worried!" "Mmm sorwy, Mama." Rei replied apologetically. King Pluto also scooped up a seven year old Setsuna. "Come on now, Setsuna," he scold gently. "You know better than to run off like that." "Sorry Papa." "That's alright," replied the King of Pluto and present guardian of time. "Now go to your mother. I have some business to attend to." He tightened his grip on the time staff (minus the garnet orb) and walked briskly to the bushes while Queen Mars and the little girls went off to find Queen Pluto. ~Oh no,~ thought the figure in the bushes. ~Please don't let him see me. Please don't let him see me.~ "Come on now, Setsuna," the king scold gently. "You know better than to hide in bushes like that." The figure in the bushes sighed and stood up to her full height. "Sorry Papa." Sailor Pluto, now a full fledged adult, stepped out from the bushes. She faced her father, who was smiling proudly. "How do you like being the guardian of time?" He asked. "It's lonely. Now I know why you or mother was always gone all the time. It's a full time duty," Sailor Pluto replied. "Don't know how you managed to rule Pluto and parent a child at the same time." "You'll learn to do the same. But the more pressing question is, why did you step out from the gates of time? You know that's against the rules. What if someone's trespassing?" "I have a trainee guarding the gates," Pluto replied softly. "Already training someone to take your place, eh?" King Pluto chuckled. "Well, anyway, why are you here?" Pluto looked up at the plane passing by Mars. "That plane must crash. For the future of this reality and others." King Pluto was solemn. "I see. Well, I won't bother you then." There was a call from the distance. "I need to tend to your younger self." Pluto nodded. "Bye Papa." As soon as her father was gone, Pluto looked up at the plane, sorrow passing through her eyes. "I'm sorry," she whispered. "But this is the way it has to be." She looked up at the plane again and pointed her staff at it. "Dead. Scream." A thread of purple light smashed righted through the plane. The plane then exploded and started to crash down onto Mars. Pluto looked sadly at the plummeting plane. "I'm sorry, Jene. Janet. Forgive me." Then she opened up a time portal and stepped as calmly as she could through it. A figure on the other side rushed to meet her. "No! Pluto! Please tell me you didn't do it!" Pluto refused to look at the figure in the eye. That silenced the figure. Burying her face in her hands, the figure ran off. Pluto looked at the fleeing figure and her heart broke. She really didn't want to do it, but she just had to. Turning away, a single tear slid from her eyes. ~Forgive me. Jene. Janet.~ ***************************************************************** Rex Jupiter groaned, opening an eye. ~What happened?~ Then, he remembered. He was chatting with the Shock family when a purple beam of energy suddenly, shot through the floor and right through Sailor Draco's torso. The man fell to the floor and then the floor itself started to fall. Everything blacked out and then he found himself like this. Rex looked around him and saw the wreckage of the plane, a few feet away. Groaning, Rex got to his feet and looked around him. "I believe we're in the badlands of Mars," he said aloud, to himself. "Hello!! Is everyone in one piece??" He heard a groan to his left and quickly rushed Master Lations's side. "Master Lation, are you alright?" The master was lying underneath a hunk of metal and the King of Jupiter help him get it off. "I'm alright, Rex," Lation replied weakly. "I only fear for the Shock Family. Quick, let us go find them?" Rex nodded gravely. "I hope John is alright. That energy beam hit him square in the chest." Lation fell silent. "I'm afraid that Draco...isn't alright." He grimaced. "How do you know?" Lation pointed at the face that Rex was unknowingly stepping on. Rex looked down and his face drained of all color. "Oh god. Who could have done this??" ***************************************************************** Rex and Lation had searched for hours for the remaining Shocks. They weren't doing too great, because Lation's leg was broken and he had to favor it. "Rex!! Over here! I believe I've found them!!" The king of Jupiter quickly ran over to the mentor and saw him putting his ear up to a large hunk of metal. "Listen! You can hear one of the Shock twins talking!" Rex put his ear up to the metal and could hear a little voice. "Jene!!! Janet!! Is that you??" The voice shut up. Then it started to scream. "Heeeeellp!!! Heeelpppp!!! Mama...." "Quick Rex! Help me get his hunk of junk off of them!!" ***************************************************************** About an hour later, Rex and Lation had Roberta propped up against a piece of cockpit. The woman groaned. It was obvious she would not live through the night without medical attention. Her pelvis and legs were crushed. She held a twin in each arm, cooing at them to calm them down. Finally, Janet laid her head down on her mother's chest and shoved her thumb in her mouth. Jene followed suit. Rex gritted his teeth in frustration. He rubbed two pieces of wood together, determined to get a spark. ~I with Sailor Mars was here...~ he grumbled to himself. "Let me help you with that," Lation suggested when Rex finally threw his hands up in frustration, a few minutes later. "Janet, dear, could you please come here?" The little girl walked wobbily up to the old man. "Could you set that piece of wood on fire please?" Janet looked at the piece of wood and furrowed her brow. "No pobem." She insisted as she pointed a finger at it. Instantly, there was a healthy flame on the piece of dead tree. "Very good, Janet." Lation replied. "Pyrokinetic..." Rex whispered. "But she's so young!" "I told you. She's got talent. Although I can't sense it now, I'm sure Jene has magic too," Lation insisted. "Amazing..." Roberta stroked Jene's hair. "That's being a good girl... hey, remember? Who loves Jene and Janet?" "Mama n Dada," Jene and Janet both replied in unison. Roberta smiled, hugging her girls dearly. "Very good. Don't ever forget that okay? No matter what happens, Mommy and Daddy will always love you two." Jene and Janet nodded silently. "Where Dada?" Jene asked suddenly. Roberta looked stricken and swallowed a few times. "Well... Dada's somewhere wonderful right now. Some day. A long time from now, you'll see him again." Roberta gently eased her daughter off of her and set them both on the ground beside her. "Okay you two. Enough now. Go to bed." They did. Roberta gently stroked a lock of hair out of Janet's eyes before turning to the two men in front of her. Unable to help herself, she squeezed her eyes together, even as tears escaped from her eyes. "Roberta..." Rex said uncertainly. "Rex." Roberta said, stopping his comment. "Constel. I want the both of you to make a promise to me." The king of Jupiter, and the Master of the forces on the sun, both nodded solemnly. "We...don't have any surviving relatives." Roberta explained. "When I go, there won't be anyone to take care of my little treasures. Now, since you two are both friends of the family, I want you to promise me that at least one of you, will look after my daughters." "Don't say that," Rex said strongly. "You'll be fine! As soon as people find us, we'll take you to the hospital. You'll be good as new!" "Don't you say that," Roberta replied back fiercely. "You and I both know that that is not true. Now, I want you both to promise me!" "Of course," Lation replied. "Of course we'll look after Jene and Janet. They'll both be great senshi, just like their father." He promised. Roberta smiled. "Thank you." She closed her eyes and took a strangled breathe. Jene and Janet both looked up and crawled over under one of each of their mother's arms. "Mama?" Jene asked. Roberta didn't have the strength to open her eyes. "Don't... worry...my dears. Remember, who loves...Jene and Janet?" "Mama n Dada!" Jene and Janet replied in unison. Roberta smiled weakly. Knowing something bad was going to happen, Jene laid her head on her mother. "Jene n Janet loves Mama n Dada too." She said softly. Roberta's smile brightened a little bit, before her head fell to one side, and she went to join her husband. "Mama?" Janet asked. Roberta couldn't answer. Rex and Constel moved to scoop one twin into an arm. "Mama??" Jene asked, pain and panic in her voice as she started to cry. Rex picked up Jene while Constel picked up Janet. Jene started to sob uncontrollably. "Mama!!!" She cried, anguish and agony surrounding her. Rex gave a gasp as he found himself assaulted with the force of a very distressed aura. The force radiated from Jene like nothing Rex had seen before and the force caused Rex to be flung back a few meters until he crashed into a tree and fell to the ground, knocking the wind out of his lungs, but not the baby out of his arms. Rex looked at Jene who was screaming with fear and awe. The force of her aggravation blew back his hair and hurt his face. Rex had to shut his eyes from the pain. Vaguely, he could hear Constel shouting at the energy that was emitting from Jene. A few minutes later, it stopped, and Jene sobbed loudly in Rex's arms while Janet did like wise in Constel's. Rex looked around and gasp when he saw that a circle with a radius of 25 meters had been cleared from where Jene was positioned. Everything was blown back, the fire was put out, and Roberta Shock's body was at the edge of the circle. Rex looked at Constel, a look of awe in his face. "What was that?!" He cried. The old Master managed to swallow. "That was the single most concentrated source of aura energy I have ever felt from some one that was not blessed with the power of being a Sailor Senshi." Rex looked down at Jene, who had cried herself to sleep. "By god, never did I feel such raw energy!" Constel nodded. "It seems that Janet is not the only twin with great potential." He looked down at Janet, who had also fallen asleep. Then, he looked back up at Rex. "My dear boy, I think I've found Sailor Gemini!" Rex looked at Constel with a frown. "You mean Jene or Janet?" He asked. "No," Constel answered. "Jene AND Janet!" "No." Rex replied. "The Zodiac Division must be made up of elite Constellational senshi." "Rex," Constel said bluntly. "Have you ever met anyone in the world with more potential of being an elite CS?!" Rex thought for a moment before having to agree with Constel. Rex sighed. "The other rulers will think I've flipped my gourd." ***************************************************************** Jene and Janet went to live with Master Constel Lation, after being announced to be the future Sailor Gemini1 and Gemini2. Under the proper guidance of Constel, Jene and Janet became full fledge CSs by the time they were 10, which was fortunate, because it gave the two time to explore their full potential before the younger Sailor Senshi completed their training. *****************************************************************
