***************************************************************** Learning Something New about Yourself Chapter 3: Stupid Decisions A Street Fighter Fanfic Written by Jenny 'Android18' Chan android18@hotmail.com www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Pagoda/4071/index.html ***************************************************************** Cammy lay in her bed, hands behind her head, apparently deep in thought. Presently, she sat up, and switched on a lamp, and looked at a clock. It stated that it was 4:00. That was about the same time one, James Bond usually left a lady friend's living quarters to go back to his own to avoid the glare of some superiors. Cammy when into her closet, and began digging through assorted clothing. She threw some clothing on to her bed, and then threw a large duffel bag on top of the clothing. She continued digging through her closet until she found a small black box. Breaking it open, she pulled out many fists full of bills, and stuffed them into her pocket. After putting all her clothes into the bag, she hastily scribbled a note and left it on her night table. Then, she left her living quarters, a look of determination on her face. ***************************************************************** James was walking aimlessly around the hallways when he felt someone tap him on his shoulder from behind. Twirling around, he only let his guard down, when he saw Cammy looking up at him, smiling innocently. "Hi Bond," Cammy said with forced cheer. "Well if it isn't the World Street Fighting Champion! What can I do for you, Cammy?" Cammy grinned. "Do you have the phone/lie detector on you at the moment? I want to see it, please." James smiled, and brought it out of his pocket. "Since when did you develop a thing for gadgets?" James handed it over to Cammy and showed her how to work it. "This little thing is already out of date! Q made one that can control a car!" Cammy nodded, satisfied with the phone. She held it, then looked up at James again. "Can you help me with something else?" She asked. "Anything." "Promise not to hate me," Cammy said quietly. James looked at her questioningly, and for the first time, saw that her apparent cheerfulness was all an acted. While he was realizing this, Cammy took the advantage, and dropped to the ground. "Cannon drill!!" She cried, knocking James off balance. The special agent flailed his limbs about for a moment, but Cammy was on her feet again already. Grabbing James by his shirt, she jumped over him, then hefted him over her, slamming him into the ground, head first. James Bond was down for the night. "I'm sorry," Cammy whispered, before running off in a random direction. ***************************************************************** The members of a certain British Intelligence Military center were given a rude wake up call in the form of a helicopter being stolen. Smiles found herself standing beside her team mates, Bull, Stick and Shorty while a stern Lieutenant glared at them. "Smiles!!" Lieut. barked, "where is your team leader?!" "Sir! Cammy was not found in her living quarters this morning, sir!" Lieut. considered this for a moment, before asking, "Do you know where she is?!" "Sir! I do not know where she is, sir! Sorry sir!" Smiles felt her team braced themselves for a royal chewing out, but it never came. Lieut. instead, gave a defeated sigh, shoulders slumped. "Normally, Cammy running off in the middle of the night would not have me so agitated. But why the hell did she take a helicopter this time?!" Smiles, sensing that the conversation had become informal, decided not to call her superior, 'sir'. "I don't know. But, I found a note on her table this morning." Smiles handed Lieut. the note, who skimmed it over. Smiles, I'm really sorry about all this, girlfriend, but I just have to get some answers. Some dreams I've been having are really getting to me, and I think I'm close to the truth. I'll tell ya more once I get back. -Cammy Lieut. looked it over. "Thank you Smiles." He said. "Dismissed." Lieut. took the note from Smiles and was going to walk away, but stopped. Smiles looked over his shoulder, and saw that Agent Bond, was being carried in, with an ice pack on his forehead, a beautiful shiner around his left eye. "Bond!!" Smiles cried, running up to him, "what happened to you?" James groaned, "Cammy... I showed her my new toy... then she took it, and knocked me out... Owowowowow..." James was taken away from her, and Smiles decided to just walk around, and think things through a little bit, when she saw their Interpol guest, Chun-li, leaning against a wall, deep in thought. Smiles went up to Chun-li and snapped her fingers in front of her. "Hey. What are you doing here? Noting down the pandemonium British Intelligence has to report back to Interpol?" Smiles teased. Chun-li shook her head. "I was wondering why our friend, Cammy would do all this," she replied. "It has me... rather confused. What did she do?" "Took off in the middle of the night, attacked an agent, stole government property, and an experimental project." Smiles answered, shrugging. Chun-li blinked and looked at Smiles. "Does this happen often?" "Well, not often," Smiles admitted, "but this isn't the first time Cammy ran off without telling anyone. Usually however, it's at LEAST a couple of months in between. She already ran off yesterday in her jeep. She's never taken Buzz before." Chun-li raised an eyebrow. "Buzz?" She asked. "That's the name we gave our chopper," Smiles answered. Chun-li nodded, understanding. Then, her watch beeped. "Aw, I have to get to the airport in an hour." She realized. She looked at Smiles. "Well, it's been a pleasure meeting you, Smiles. I'll look you up again when I'm in the area." Smiles waved as Chun-li turned and left. "Bye! And don't tell Interpol what happened here! I was joking about that! Really!" ***************************************************************** Cammy looked down at the earth and took a deep breathe. By her estimate, she should be closing in on Thailand in a few hours. Right now she was somewhere over Burma. That meant she would have to ditch 'Buzz' right about now. Manipulating the throttle expertly, Cammy lowered over a city and scanned it over until she saw a rather large parking lot. It was the middle of the night, so there weren't any cars. Cammy dove for the parking lot and landed in the middle of the lot without any problems. As the helicopter landed, several lights came on in nearby houses as the landing woke up the neighbors. Cammy poked her head out of the door and saw that no angry locals had made their ways out of their homes yet, so she jumped out of the copter, swung her bag over one shoulder, and hightailed it to some nearby trees. ***************************************************************** Smiles blinked the sleep out of her eyes when she felt Bull nudge her slightly. She quickly straightened up when she saw Lieut. glare at her team with a critical eye. "Smiles!" Lieut. barked. "Sir yes sir!" "We have found Buzz!" Smiles's eyes went wide. "Sir! Where was the helicopter located, sir?!" "A parking lot in Tavoy, Burma. Cammy has not been seen yet, but the Burmese government believe that she is still in the country, as she has not been seen leaving Burma." Lieut. gave a pause before giving the team their mission. "Your job, is to assist the Burmese police in apprehending Cammy White and bring her back here! Understand?!" "Yes Sir!!" The entire team shouted. "Dismissed!" The entire team turned and marched out of Lieut.'s room. As soon as they were out, the visibly tensed up instead of relaxing. "Why is Cammy in Burma?" Bull asked. Shorty and Stick both shrugged their shoulders. "How are we suppose to find Cammy?" Stick asked. "She can be damn near invisible when she wants to be!" "The thing I want to know is if we should even find her!" Shorty said. "Her punishment will be harsh if we bring her in where as it'll be lighter if she comes back herself." The three men turned to look at Smiles for her input. For her part, Smiles was rather thoughtful. "I think everything will work itself out when we get to Burma." She said. She turned and walked off. The three men looked at each other, shrugged, before following their commander. ***************************************************************** Cammy sneezed and rubbed her nose. ~Someone's talking about me,~ she thought to herself. ~Oh well, they probably found Buzz and thought they'll find me soon.~ Cammy grinned to herself. ~They're probably think I'm still in Burma. Ha! It was so easy to get past the border. Jump over a fence and viola!" Suddenly, Cammy heard a rustle and instantly stopped thinking as she flattened herself against the ground. She stayed like that for a full 15 minutes before she was positive that no one was there. Drawing her self upwards until she was squatting, Cammy made her way silently through the forest. When she was out of the area, a security camera rose out of the ground a few scant feet away from where she had been lying. It surveyed the area, then looked in the direction where Cammy had gone and stayed there for a few minutes before sinking into the ground again. ***************************************************************** Cammy looked around her destination, Bangkok and decided that it looked pretty much the same as the last she had been here: when she had beaten Bison. It had been a few days since she had ditched Buzz and she had walked around the city for a few hours. She was vaguely surprised that none of the citizens recognized her as the World Champion, even though many people were still talking about the fight. Of course, the last time the locals had seen her, she was in a green body suit, a red barrette, and combat boots. Now, she looked like any other tourist with a camera around her neck, wearing shorts and a sleeveless T-shirt. There were sun glasses on her face, and her hair were out of their trademark braids. She had somehow managed to tuck every piece of blonde hair into a large baggy hat on her head. She made her way to the plaza where she had fought Bison and oohed and ahhed at the right times when a local came up to her and told her how a small female had defeated the almighty Master Bison right where she stood. Suddenly, the local shut up and looked up when someone's shadow fell over him. He gulped, turned, and ran. Cammy turned around, and looked up. Her eyes narrowed behind her glasses, and her lips tightened. The handsome man smiled down at her as he brushed a piece of brown hair that had come loose from his braid out of his face. He was wearing a suit, but the blistering heat didn't seem to bother him. "It is always a pleasure to see you, Miss Cammy." He greeted in a pleasant voice. "Allow me to buy you dinner?" Cammy swallowed. Only her eyes betrayed the anger she was feeling on the inside, but her sun glasses managed to hide that. "I would rather starve than eat food you bought me." She replied in a cool voice. "I'd probably live longer. A flicker of anger danced across the man's eyes, but he smiled none the less. "My dear Cammy. Surely you didn't come all the way to Thailand, just to insult me!" Cammy pulled her sunglasses down to the tip of her nose so she could glare at the man. "If you want to help me, just bring me to your boss." The man smiled, but it wasn't a nice little smile anymore. There was a predatory leer on his face. "Master Bison knew you would come. That is why he sent me to come welcome you! He told me to make sure you were comfortable before I brought you to him." The man reached a hand up and stroked Cammy's cheek. Cammy clenched her fists and fought down the urge to attack in response. The man chuckled. "My my, you're so tense! Not comfortable at all. Come with me Cammy. I'll get you some new clothes, a nice dinner, make sure you're all happy before we go see Master Bison, Okay?" Cammy was silent. She studied this man before her intently for a few minutes before biting her lip. ~I'm playing into a trap.~ Cammy thought to herself. ~But what else can I do?~ "Well?" "Alright." Cammy grumbled. "But you have to bring me to Bison afterwards." "Of course." The man smiled again, and offered Cammy his arm. Cammy looked at the offending limb for a few moments before taking it. They walked silently for a few blocks before Cammy broke the silence. She looked at the man beside her out of the corner of her eyes. "So where's your mask?" The man laughed. "I only wear that thing while fighting to protect my beautiful face. I don't think I'll be fighting you today, so I didn't see any reason to wear it." The man looked at Cammy, a smug look on his face. "Besides, how am I suppose to get a cute, young lady like you to accompany me for dinner without showing you my charming smile?" Cammy moved her eyes to look forward again. "You are such a peacock, Vega. You know that?" Vega smiled. "You're just jealous." *****************************************************************
