***************************************************************** Learning Something New about Yourself Chapter 4: Caught A Street Fighter Fanfic Written by Jenny 'Android18' Chan android18@hotmail.com www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Pagoda/4071/index.html ***************************************************************** Chun-li looked out the window on the plane she was on. The passing clouds were white and fluffy. The sky was a light, cheerful blue. Chun-li stifled the urge to throw up. ~I hate planes. I hate planes. IhateplanesIhateplanes.~ She thought over and over again to herself. ~Please tell me we're landing soon. Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease!!~ This was the second plane she had taken in the space of a week. The first plane went from Britain to New York. As soon as the plane landed, she was told to get back on it and go to Thailand. One of their field agents, John Koaw, apparently had some interesting news. Chun-li managed to soothe her dizziness with visions of what she was going to do to Bison as soon as she found him. The seat belt light came on and a stewardess's voice came over the intercom. "Passengers, please put on your seat belts. We will be landing in Bangkok in about 5 minutes. Put on your seat belts please." Chun-li took a deep breathe. ~Thankyouthankyouthankyou.~ ***************************************************************** Cammy stifled the urge to throw up. In front of her sat Vega, who was calmly chewing a piece of... something. Cammy looked down at her own dish, which was like Vega's, only it hadn't been eaten yet. She picked up her chopsticks, and poked at the brown mess sitting before her. She could have sworn that it squirmed and moved to another part of her dish as she poked it. Cammy took a deep breathe. ~This is Vega's doing.~ She told herself. ~He's trying to unnerve me.~ Cammy looked Vega right in the eyes, and grit her teeth as he popped another piece of something into his mouth. Cammy picked up her glass of tea, and quickly downed it to keep bile from coming up. "Is there a problem, Cammy dear?" Cammy glared at Vega as best she could while fighting down bile. "I've entertained you long enough, Vega. Take me to Bison. Now." Vega grinned. "My, my! Aren't we pushy!" Cammy had had enough. She jumped to her feet, and pounded her fists on the table, carefully controlling her strength to avoid breaking the table. "NOW, Vega!" Vega smiled. "Sit down, Cammy. We'll be going soon. Very soon, in fact." Cammy grit her teeth, before forcing herself to sit down. She breathe heavily. A trickle of sweat ran down her brow. Cammy ignored it, convincing herself that it was just the scorching heat. She looked up at Vega, who still managed to look comfortable while wearing a suit. "Are you getting warm Cammy?" Vega asked when he noticed Cammy perspiring heavily. Cammy didn't answer. She poured another cup of tea into her cup and downed it. Then, she looked at her cup and blinked. ~The tea leaves...~ Cammy thought to herself, fear entering her system. ~They're... bubbling!~ Suddenly, Cammy realized why she was getting so hot: she was drugged. Cammy snapped her head up and stared at Vega accusingly. "You-!!" Vega smiled. "You were right, Cammy dear. You should have starved yourself rather than eat in my company. But don't worry. That poison isn't going to kill you. You're just... going to sleep for a little bit." Cammy felt herself get drowsy even as Vega spoke. She sat back, breathing deeply. "You sonof..." "Don't curse me," Vega sniffed. "It was Master Bison's idea. Don't ask me WHY he got me to go to all this trouble with getting you drugged. I would have rather knocked you out and carrying you to him." "You..." Cammy couldn't complete her sentence as she closed her eyes, and fell asleep. Vega looked at the girl without expression. He looked around the restaurant, and noted that all of the other customers, waiters, everyone had conveniently left the room. Vega got to his feet, and took his suit jacket off. He walked over to Cammy and took the hat off her head. Her blonde hair came tumbling out. Vega hoisted the sleeping girl a foot into the air by her hair. He put the jacket on her shoulders and put her arms into the arms of the jacket. Then, he put his hand into the jacket pocket, and pulled out a little black square about the size of his hand with many buttons on it. Vega pushed a button, and suddenly two metal poles with a combined diameter of a few millimeters came out of the bottom of the jacket. Turning Cammy around, Vega lifted her up higher, and hooked the polls into Cammy's shoes. When that was done, Vega put Cammy down. The metal poles forced Cammy to keep standing. Vega pushed another button, and one of the jacket arms moved up, carrying Cammy's arm with it. Vega pushed a few more buttons, and Cammy was forced to awkwardly walked a few steps. Finally, Vega gave a smile of satisfaction. ***************************************************************** Stick was drumming his fingers on a table, completely bored. Shorty was humming to himself softly while Bull kept walking back and forth. Finally, the big giant gave a growl, and slammed his fist down on a table. "I don't believe this!" Bull growled. "We've been in Burma for a week, and we haven't seen any trace of Cammy at all!" "I told you Cammy could be invisible if she wanted to be," Shorty grumbled. "Shut up, you two." Stick said. "Smiles is gonna come with some new info any minute now so maybe we'll be able to-" Stick was cut off when Smiles came into the room. She looked outside, then closed the door, locking it. She sat at the table, and beckoned her team mates to come closer. "Okay guys, here's what's been happening." She said in a bare whisper. "I've been... lying to you guys." "WHAT?!" Bull roared. "SHH!!" Smiles hissed. "Listen, I have a good reason. Cammy isn't in Burma. She probably slipped across the border to Thailand days ago!" "Thailand?" Bull asked. Smiles nodded. "Why would Cammy come to Burma? There isn't anything here she could possibly want. She probably just ditched Buzz here so we wouldn't catch on to her." "Why Thailand?" Shorty asked. "Bison," Smiles answered. "For some reason, Cammy has got it into her head that she has to go see Bison, no matter what. I have no idea WHY she wants to go see that monster, but I don't doubt her." "If she's in Thailand, why are we in Burma?" Stick asked. "This is the part I want to apologize for," Smiles said. "I've known for some time, that Cammy was going to see Bison. I don't know WHY, but it HAS to be for a good reason. So I've been buying her time. If we find her, before she can do what she came to do, she'll only keep running off until she completes the job. So I'm sorry I've been keeping you guys in the dark." Smiles apologized. "It's... alright," Bull said. "You did it for Cammy's sake. But if you ever do it again..." Bull trailed off, but the glint in his eyes told Smiles never to keep the big guy in the dark again. "Why did you tell us now?" Stick asked. "The Burmese government is positive that Cammy has left the country." Smiles said. "One of their people on vacation thought they saw someone that could have been Cammy talking to someone who looked like Vega." "THE Vega?!" Shorty asked. Smiles nodded. "That's why we're moving out to Thailand. They think Cammy might be part of Bison's little gang." "That's bull," Stick snarled. "I agree," Bull agreed, "but they don't know that." Smiles sighed. "We have to go NOW. I hope we gave Cammy enough time for her to do whatever it is she wants to do." ***************************************************************** Chun-li looked at the now famous plaza where Cammy had fought Bison. She noted with mild interest that someone had repaired one of the broken statues. She was just looking around, when a local man came up to her and tapped her on the shoulder. Chun-li turned. "Can I help you?" She asked in the best local language she could manage. The man smiled before speaking in perfect English. "Are you Chun-li Zhang with Interpol?" Chun-li's brows drew together sharply. "You are John Koaw?" John nodded. "Yes." "What can you tell me?" Chun-li asked. John looked around suspiciously before speaking in a very low tone of voice. "Are you aware that the World Champion is in Thailand?" "World Champion?" Chun-li asked, an eyebrow cocked. "You mean, Cammy White is here?" John nodded. "Well, I think it was her. She was dressed like a tourist though. She was just looking around, when this man came up to her. They talked, and she didn't seem very happy with something, but then they walked away in that direction." "Who is this man?" Chun-li asked. John looked around again, before speaking so softly, Chun-li almost couldn't hear him. "Vega." A look of surprised was plastered on Chun-li's face. "Vega?" She whispered. John nodded. "Where Vega is, Bison is near." He said. "Where did they go?" Chun-li asked. "In that direction." John said, pointing. Chun-li looked in the direction, before looking back at John. "Thank you." She said, before walking in the direction John had pointed in. ***************************************************************** Chun-li followed the direction of some shop owners and rounding a corner to a restaurant. She instantly jumped right back around the corner at the sight she saw. She only let an eye around the corner to see what was going on. A man with brown hair in a braid was walking out of a restaurant. He was holding the hand of a girl with long blonde hair that fell to her knees. The girl was wearing the jacket portion of the suit the man had on. The girl walked awkwardly, her knees not really bending. "Come dear," the man said. "Your knees are acting up again. Let's get you home dear." The man lead the woman to the side of the road, and seemed to be waiting for a vehicle of some sort to pick them up. Chun-li's eyes narrowed. She recognized the man to be Vega, the famed cage fighter, and the long blonde hair was a dead giveaway as Cammy. Chun-li looked down at one of her spiked bracelets, and gently fingered one of the spikes. She gave a sharp tug, and the spike came out into her fingers. Chun-li looked at the spike, and looked back up at Cammy and Vega. Taking aim, Chun-li threw the spike at the two, and the spike hit the back of Cammy's neck. The spike clung to the long hair and as the girl took another awkward step, it disappeared into the sea of blonde. Just then, a jeep came around another corner and stopped in front of Vega and Cammy. The driver jumped out of the car and helped Vega lay Cammy into the back seat before the two men got in the front seats. Then, the jeep drove away. Chun-li watched the jeep drive away, before she reached into a pocket, and pulled out a small tracking device. "Gotcha," Chun-li whispered softly. ***************************************************************** Cammy gave a groan, and opened her eyes. She had to blink a couple of times before her eyes could adjust to the lighting. She winced as she turned her head. A throbbing was just going crazy in her head. She gave another groan before ever so slowly and cautiously sitting up. Cammy took a deep breathe, her hand supporting her temple. She looked around and saw that she was in a small, square room where the walls were made of metal, and there were no windows. A vague sense of familiarity washed over Cammy, but was promptly chased away by her headache. Looking down, Cammy saw that she had been lying in a bed, on top of a blanket. Cammy squinted groaned once more before looking up and seeing her bag sitting on the floor some ways away from the bed. Cammy got off the bed and went over to the bag. She opened it and looked inside. As she had suspected, someone had gone through it as her things had been moved around a bit. She frowned when she saw that someone had looked through all the weapons, but decided that they didn't pose enough of a threat to be taken away from her. Even the phone/lie detector she had taken from Bond was left, and intact. ~Cocky bastards...~ Cammy's frown deepened when she dug through and realized that her green body suit, her red barette, combat boots and gloves had been taken out. She looked around, and those things lying on a chair, on top of a red robe, with a note on it. Cammy made her way to the chair, and picked up the note, reading it. She couldn't remember ever seeing the writing before, but instantly, she recognized the handwriting as Bison's. 'I will see you when you are in proper attire for my court.' Cammy stared at the notes for a few seconds and wondered if she should comply. She only stared for a few seconds, before she crumpled the note, and picked up her bodysuit. ***************************************************************** "I don't understand." "What now, Balrog?" Vega asked, annoyed. He was in his usual clothes, his mask beside him. He was toying with his claw. "We should have taken her weapons." Vega sneered. "Why bother? She only had a dagger, a gun, and a few bullets. Those things aren't threats to us." "We should have taken her phone at least. What if she calls for help?" "She won't," Vega assured. "Master Bison KNOWS Cammy. She either won't, or CAN'T phone for help." Balrog paused a second, seemingly satisfied with the answers, before another one came to his mind. "There should have been a camera in that room." "Why?!" Vega asked, patience lost. "She can't do anything! Those walls are solid steel, two feet wide! She can't get out unless we open the door for her! Even if she THOUGHT to go for the door, she won't be able to see it. That migraine I gave her won't help her any, either. She's helpless, Balrog." "I still think there outta be a camera in there." Vega laughed. "You probably just want to see her change!" Balrog grinned. "Well..." "Enough, you two!" Another voice growled. Both Vega and Balrog looked up, startled for a moment. Then, Vega relaxed. "Sagat. It's only you." "You should be GLAD it's only me," Sagat growled. "If Lord Bison hears you talking about HIS woman in THAT tone of voice..." "HIS woman?" Vega asked, "please. THAT was over years ago." "Jealous, Vega?" Sagat asked, smug. Vega didn't answer. He looked in the other direction, anger flashing across his face. "I thought so." "Shut up," Vega shouted. "I am the most beautiful creature on this Earth! My beauty can get me ANY woman on this earth I desire." "You keep thinking that," Sagat replied, "you can get ANY woman you want, EXCEPT Cammy. Keep your claw off her, Vega. She belongs to Bison." "We'll see," Vega said softly to himself. "We'll see." ***************************************************************** After donning her official fighting attire, Cammy looked through her bags for some elastic bands and a comb. Finding them, she sat down on her bed, and ran the comb through her hair. She winced when something snagged in her hair. Cursing softly, Cammy reached back to her neck, and pulled out a little silver thing. It looked familiar to her, and Cammy tried to place it. Suddenly, it hit her, when Cammy put it on her wrist. ~This is one of the spikes on Chun-li's bracelet!~ Cammy thought to herself. ~But how...~ Cammy was confused for a few seconds, but she decided that the discovery of the spike was a good thing. She put it on the bed beside her, finished doing her hair, and put the barrette on. Then, she transferred the spike into her barrette to keep it safe. Cammy went over to her bag. She took out her dagger, and loaded her gun. She strapped both the weapons onto her thighs. Then, she looked at the lie detector, before she clipped it on to her wrist. Then, she looked over at the chair, where a heavy, red cloak lay. A few images flittered through her mind as she looked at it, and she moved closer to it. Cammy fingered the familiar fabric, and lifted it up to look closely at it. Proper attire for my court...~ Cammy recited to herself. Acting on a hunch, Cammy twirled the cloak and let it settle on her shoulders. The heavy cloak swirled at her toes, precisely her height, before coming still and the hood rested on her head. ~So familiar...~ Suddenly, there was a humming sound, and Cammy swung in the direction of the noise. A part of the wall slid upward, revealing a doorway. A crooked old man stood in the light, studying Cammy for a moment. "Who are you?" Cammy demanded. "Cammy1." Said the old man. He looked her up and down, a satisfied smile on his face. "You seemed to have faired rather well in the outside world. Surprising. I didn't think you'd last a week without my assistance. It's nice to know my creations can adapt to well. You did so well, in fact, you even managed to defeat Master Bison himself! Surprising!" Cammy's eyes narrowed. ~Cammy1?~ She thought to herself. ~Why does that sound so...~ "Lord Bison is in his throne room," the old man said. "You are to come with me to him. There, he will answer the questions you have." He stepped back out of the room, and motioned to his left. "This way." Cammy paused for a second, before following the old man. ~Here we go...~ *****************************************************************
