Belinda Metz: Actor Singer Songwriter Choreographer Dancer
Belinda Metz was born on January 4, 1960 in Scarborough, Ontario Canada. She is a Capricorn, or by the Chinese zodiac, she was born in the Year of the Pig. She is 5-9 with sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. Belinda is single but engaged marry Juergen Merz, a massage therapist for the USA Hockey Team. Belinda has one daughter Amelia Skye, born on March 4, 1995. Her older brother Don is also in the entertainment business. Belinda loves to watch NYPD Blue and Chicago Hope. Her favorite actor is Jimmy Smits She began her career first as a dancer. She did back up dancing for Ginger Rogers and Ben Vareen at the Palace Variety Television Show. She was filmed in the Elvis Stojko story. Her first acting job was in Charlie Grants War. Her most famous role to date is as Detective Jody Powell in Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. When asked how she choose to have an acting career, Belinda replied, "The career chose me!" Belinda lost a major CBC drama set for fall to Adrienne Barbeau who got the role she wanted in the CBS movie. However, she will be in an Edmonton tv series called Mentors. She plays the mother of a young boy who is a genius. The series is created by Josh Miller. "As the 5'9', blue-eyed, sandy blonde departed from the audition for the first episode of Kung Fu:The Legend Continues, Executive Producer Michael Sloan turned to Susan Forrest and asked in Awe,"Who was that?" Susan replied,"Belinda Metz, and she's HOT!" Although Belinda was not cast for Peter's first love interest Tyler on KF:TLC, she later demonstrated how "hot" she was by playing Kira Blakemore (Shadow Assassin) so well that David Carradine's complaints over the death of Kira lead to Belinda's being hired as Kira's twin sister, Jody Powell. However, that first audition is Belinda's first special moment on KF:TLC. She fondly reminisces how Michael Sloan read with her, and that, she sang "How Do I Know" acappela for the first time. In the fourth season, Michael Sloan allowed her to choose any song she wanted for "Shaolin Shot". Later, she would realize she had chosen the very song that had introduced her to Kung Fu:The Legend Continues. Kung Fu: The Legend Continues was her 'big break' for television. Jody Powell is Belinda's favorite, because of the character's strength, humor, sensitivity, and integrity. Belinda's first special moment with Kung Fu: The Legend Continues was the Tyler audition. Her next special moment was the episode "Quake!" Belinda feels Chris Potter had a greater respect for her after her portrayal of Jody in those sensitive scenes, thus changing the relationship between them. And naturally, other special moments on KF:TLC include her opportunity to sing "How Do I Know" in "Shaolin Shot," and her rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" in "A Shaolin Christmas" during the Christmas party at Peter's apartment. One of Belinda's favorite amusing scenes to film was a scene in "Dragon's Lair". In this episode, many of the regular characters lost their chi, with personalities emerging different from their own. When filming first began of the precinct scene where the less inhibited Jody gets very close to Peter (Chris Potter). Chris wanted to stay as far away as possible from Belinda's cleavage. The director let that go for the first take, but brought Peter and Jody closer together for the second take. Chris' discomfort is apparent ... and is perfect for the scene! Michael Sloan assures fans that no one but Belinda Metz will play Jody Powell in any future Kung Fu:The Legend continues movies. Information about KFTLC reunion movies. Strength, humor, sensitivity, and integrity -- Belinda's description of Jody echoes how fans who have attended the Kung Fu Festival would describe Belinda. The Music
