By MARC CETNER and PATRICIA TOWLE
"Friends" star Courteney Cox is so fed up with waiting for Michael Keaton to marry her that after five years together, she's finally dumped him! Now the raven-haired beauty is looking for a new man. "I want a family and a man who shares that dream," Courteney, 31, declared to a close pal. "I kept hoping Michael would come around, but he was afraid of the responsibility. "So I'm looking for a handsome, talented man who can commit to me and rtuly be my soul mate. I feel I can demand someone who'll put me first in his life." Courteney Cox was willing to wait for a commitment when she began her romance with Michael in 1990, say sources. "They became involved a year after he split with his wife," said Courteney's close pal. "Early in the relationship, Michael pledged his undying love. But about a year into the romance they had a falling out because Courteney wanted to marry and Michael didn't."Eventually, they patched things up, but Michael stressed that he didn't want a lifetime commitment." The 43-year-old actor changed his tune in 1993 when Courteney was in Miami making the movie "Ace Ventura" with Jim Carry. Michael, who lives in Los Angeles, heard rumors that the two were having a fling "and he flew down to Miami to stop the affair," said Courteney's close pal. "On bended knee, Michael told Courteney he wanted to be with her for the rest of their lives and she was convinced that marriage was just around the corner. "By this past December, they were talking about a summer wedding." A longtime friend of the couple revealed, "Michael even brought a diamond to her house about two months ago and they talked about having an angagement ring made. "But she never actually got the ring." Added one of Courteney's friends, "Every time she brought up their wedding plans, Michael changed the subject. Whenever she confronted him about it, he just said. "I've got other things on my mind now. We'll talk about it later," When Lisa Kudrow, Courteney's "Friends" co-star, got married over the Memorial Day weekend, Courteney once again tried to get Michael to discuss their own wedding plans. But he refused, said Courteney's close pal. "So fed-up Courteney sent Michael packing. They separated on the weekend of June 3 when she gave him the heaveho from her Santa monica home." When contacted by The ENQUIRER, Courteney denied that she had split with Keaton. "Michael and I are very much together," she insisted. "I've been with him for over five years and we're both very happy with the way things are. I love Michael very much. "our relationship is exactly the way it's been for the last five years. We've both always had our own places and plan to keep things that way for awhile,. We're happy. We're in love. And that's all there is to it." But the sitcom star has been telling her family and friends that Michael is out of her life, say sources. "Courteney's family is very upset about the split because Michael had become very close to them," said the couple's friend. "But in the end, they felt he and Courteney weren't meant for each other," The beautiful actress also confided to her close pal, "Michael is just not husband material. I'll always love him, but I can be kept waiting only so long. "I have to move on with my life-and my next long-term relationship is going to be for keeps!"
