James Van Der Beek is Dawson Leery, a freshman at Capeside
Highschool. He has two best friends: Pacey and Joey, whom he has
know since he was a child. He is the only son of Mitchell and Gail
Leery, both TV journalists.
Dawson is starting to become an adult, and when he met Jen, the new
girl on town, he lost his mind for her.
Although he is only fifteen years old, Dawson already knows exactly
what he wants to do with his life. He wants to be a film director,
just like his idol, Steven Spielberg. Dawson, along with Pacey, has
a part-time job at a local video store called Screenplay Video.
