Xanfan's Trading Guidelines

This section was created so that you know exactly what I look for in trading, including the material on the tape, and the trader. Take a moment to read this page, especially if you'd like to conduct our first trade.

*I AM NOT ACCEPTING TRADE OFFERS*
SORRY, NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE ABOVE.

I *don't* accept cash or blank tape offers...

People recently don't seem to understand this rule, as simple as it is. So I will highlight it for the first & final time... I WILL NOT TRADE FOR CURRENCY! That means, I will not trade for cash, check, or money order. (I will not say who, but someone out there actually told me, "If you won't except cash, how about a money order?") Accepting cash (or any form of currency) for these COPYRIGHTED programs is ILLEGAL. So, if you come to me asking for shows, and offer me money, don't expect a responce.

Also, I'm sorry to say that I will not trade shows in exchange for blank tapes. (That is, you send me 2 tapes, I use one to make your tape, and I keep the other for "payment" as it were). I personally don't think that it is worth it. But even if you don't have all that much to offer me in return, let me know. You never know what will tickle my fancy.

I will send tapes wherever you live, but...

I am willing to send tapes anywhere in the world, and do not limit myself to North America. But please keep in mind that in order to view the tapes I send you, you must have an NTSC compatible VCR to play the tapes back. I do NOT have the ability to record in PAL or SECAM at this time, but that may change sometime in the future. For those that are curious, here is a map of what counties use what formats:

Which countries use NTSC? PAL? SECAM? All videotapes are recorded using the VHS format.

I only trade one episode for one episode...

This is a new rule I'm putting on the list, just as a reminder that I only trade on a per-show basic, reguardless to wheather or not the episode(s) have commericals or not. Thus, a 30 minute show with commericals EQUALS a 20 minute show, due to it not having commericals. In the end, if we do a trade of 16 shows each, and the tape I make for you has no commericals at all, it is equal to the tape that has 16 shows with all commericals. Of course, 60 minute shows equal 2 30 minute shows using the same format. (Some people may think this is unfair due to time differences, but its how I operate.)

I will keep ALL commericals that I have on my copy in your copy. Wheater it be original commericals or otherwise. Also, some studio masters have "empty space" in which the commericals would be manually inserted. I keep them intact as well. You may of course request otherwise for time concerns.

By default, I use T-120 in EP/SLP mode...

On a "normal" trade, I will only use T-120 (6 hour) tapes, recorded in EP/SLP mode. If all shows have commericals, I can hit 12 episodes on a single tape. However on occasion, I can fit as many as 16 episodes on a single T-120 tape. I have the right to use T-160 (8 hour) tapes without warning, and in some cases I may even use T-130 (6 1/2 hour) tapes. You also have that right.

I always tape shows in EP/SLP modes, unless stated otherwise. I will tell you that I am not too fond of using LP or SP mode in recording tapes, because the cost of the tapes, and the cost of shipping goes a lot higher, very quickly. Suddenly, a trade that would fit on a single T-160 has to go on as many as 4 tapes. While I *will* tape in SP or LP, I request that if you do, that you do the same on my tapes. It's only fair.

I *always* use the US Postal Service Priority Mail...

Click here to go to the Post Office! I send all of my packages using the United States Postal Service, and I request that you do the same. For domestic (United States and Canada) packages I send all tapes via Priority Mail, which starts at (and usually is) $3.20, and tapes get to you between 2-3 days. For international packages, I sent all tapes via Global Priority Mail, which starts at around $3.75, and the tapes get to you between 7-10 days. I request that you please do the same when mailing my packages.

Throughout my listings, you'll see some abbreviations...

At the start of every entry, you will see a letter. This is the rating of the quality of the video on my copy of the show. "A" being crystal clear or close to it, "F" meaning that the video isn't hollerable. Keep this in mind when making selections. At the end of all episodes, you will see some characters. Let me explain how to read them.

{OB WOC - 142.12}

The "OB" indicates that the show was taped from the original broadcast. A complete list of all sources is found below. "WOC" indicates that the episode has the ORIGINAL commericals. (If a show has GSN commericals or the like, WOC will not be shown, but may contain them.)

The number at the end is the tape number the show is on, and the show number on the tape. It makes finding shows easier on my end. PLEASE INCLUDE THE NUMBERS IN THE INITIAL REQUEST.

CBN = Taped from Christian Broadcasting Network CHAL = Taped from Challenge TV (UK GSN) GSN = Taped from Game Show Network OB = Taped from original broadcast RER = Taped from a rerun on the same channel as originally aired SM = Studio Master TBA = To Be Aired (Date show was scheduled to AIR) VTR = Video Tape Recorded (Date the show was TAPED) WOC = Contains original commericals
