Great show. The Return of Chuck! The retired cop who owed The Favor in Episode 4 - "Bitter End"? What a funny, cool guy. I hope they keep him coming back! I flippin' LOVE it! Young girl, pulled into a car by a couple of really obnoxious guys. One drives (Jesse) while one rapes (Aaron). They dump her out of the car nearly dead. Samantha - now tied to her house with fear and trauma. Completely defeated and miserable, BUT, she's being closely watched and looked after by Retired Cop, Chuck who had worked on her case before retirement. So far, no luck with catching who did it, but he has perservered. By the time he can make Aaron as the rapist, the statute of limitations has run out on the crime. Aaron can't be charged; walks away free as a bird. Back to the Army with his buddy, Jesse. Bosom buds, these two. Through thick and thin for years, etc, etc. Chuck, really brought down by Samantha's grief, goes to Mr. Chapel and asks him to whack these two guys. Chapel, of course, says no. After a discussion on the tragic consequences visited upon a rape victim, Chapel decides he's ready to get them, after all. They stake out the two soldiers and listen to them talking. Chapel refers to them as scum and declares, "All I can think is, how much I love my job." They set out to see that Aaron (especially) and Jesse experience at least five of the rape victim's feelings. No.1 - Isolation - "That place where no one you know can help you." We start by setting out to frame Aaron as a co-rapist of another rapist, who is already doing BIG time in the Big House. If Aaron can't fall for hurting Samantha, he'll fall for something he didn't do. heh heh heh. Now, I may have to watch this part again, cause I don't understand the reasoning behind this one unless it was to alienate Aaron and Jesse from the rest of the platoon. Chapel sends a letter (pretending to be from Jesse to Aaron) to another soldier, who opens it by mistake. The soldier HAS to read it aloud to everyone in the bar. It sounds like Jesse is writing a love memo to Aaron. They get laughed at, Jesse stops Aaron from getting in a big brawl and they go to the bar to simmer down. Enter: A former recipient of The Favor - Her name is Marion, (who climbs all over Mr. Chapel, but is rebuffed. Business, you know). He tells her he needs her to help get this guy. When she finds out he brutalizes women, she is more than ready to get him. "This might not work out," she says, "I'm supposed to be doing you the favor." She heads out after Aaron whom she meets at the bar, comes on to, and drugs his drink before they head off to his room. The two hoodlums have a female CO that they (well, Aaron) totally hate. She really gets down on Aaron, too. Threatens that macho attitude, big time, being ordered around by a woman. He has it in for her and just ACHING for a chance to knock her off her high horse. She dresses him down for taking her parking spot. "Even if I'm dead, you don't park there." He really, really hates her. Meanwhile, back at the room, Marion simply helps Aaron to the couch and he is out like a light. She pulls on her rubber gloves. Chapel gets the keys to Aaron's pickup and goes off to the army base to severely bash into the CO's car until it is trashed completely (accompanied by the Sex Pistol Sid Vicious' version of "My Way" - it SO rocked!). Then he returns the truck. Chuck meets up with Marion outside Aaron's place and shows him a little sample container with Aaron's "sample". Chuck is amazed that she got that while the guy was out cold. She claims professional aptitude and handing it to him states, "This is what we refer to as a Clinton Corsage". Off to KC's evidence room to find the first rape victim's clothes(the victim they're framing Aaron for, the victim of his already incarcerated "partner"). They find (are you ready) a blue dress which Chuck christens with the sample. They take some fibers and hairs from the first victim to plant in Aaron's house. The fix is on. No.2 - Betrayal - "When everything you count on comes crashing down."
Aaron is busted for the vehicle vandalism and held for further questioning when it is made known to the DA (the workings of Chuck) that the hooker Aaron went home with is listed as missing. When he's released on bond he goes home and finds The Manila Envelope with the phone number. He calls Mr. Chapel for help. Thinks someone is trying to set him up! Chapel responds the usual way and is all set to be Aaron's avenger. (KC thinks that's pretty funny. Chapel assures her it's human nature, "Everybody thinks they're the good guy and they're just waitin' for someone to agree with them.") He goes with Aaron to search Jesse's place. They find a webpage download called "Vengeance Unlimited" with ways of doing revenge. They find a set of duplicate keys for Aaron's house and pick-up. They find "proof" that Jesse is having an affair with the CO and Chapel convinces Aaron that Jesse is siding with the CO to get Aaron out of the picture. He tells Aaron to keep quiet and let him handle it. Don't let Jesse get suspicious. When Jesse and Aaron meet, Jesse is a little concerned about the disappearance of the hooker and reminds Aaron about the rape of Samantha. Did Aaron drink too much and do something like "last time"? Friendship wavering. No.3 - Confusion - "What really happened? Who do you trust?" Marion calls Jesse and when he finds out she's alright, he begs her to come and testify for Aaron to get him off the hook for her disappearance. She says she can't do that; she's afraid of Aaron. She says Aaron has asked her to lie and turn it all around on Jesse, but she doesn't want any part of that. Jesse is convinced that Aaron is going over the edge because of him witnessing Aaron raping Samantha. Now, Chapel tells Aaron that it's been set up for the the MPs to bust into a hotel room and find the CO and Jesse together - enlisted man and officer, a no no. Chapel convinces Aaron to go watch the show. Only, Aaron, thinking that his bud is in the room with the CO, is REAL mad by now. He busts into the room and busts Jesse in the nose. Chapel comes in and as he passes Marion, he tells her, "Now go make that phone call and then I'm out of your life forever." Marion doesn't say "Thank God," she just runs into the hall screaming for help and calling 911, leaving Aaron and Jesse fighting on the floor. Chapel doesn't stop them. He leaves the door open and leaves, passing the MPs coming to the 911 call. Now, Aaron is busted for trying to attack MARION (who claims that Jesse was trying to help her, thus; fighting with Aaron. Our Little Soldier Aaron is looking at seriouser and seriouser charges. No.4 - Fear - "Can lead to highly erratic and irrational behavior." Jesse is thoroughly threatened by Mr. Chapel about his "sit by and watch" role in Samantha's rape. "Now, I know you're concerned", he tells Jesse brutally, "but there's nothing you can do. It's too late." By the time he is finished with Jesse, Jesse is cooperation personified. Thanks again to a tip-off from Chuck, the DA searches Aaron's house and finds the hairs and fibers in the vacuum cleaner bag, and discovers the apparently not-noticed-before semen stain on the blue dress of the first victim. Soon, they're taking Aaron away for the THAT rape. Samantha gets to testsify about her ordeal and I.D. him as the perp and he is convicted as a serial rapist and sexual predator - no statute of limitations on that. Off to jail we go! KC and Chapel watch a refreshed and renewed Samantha walk away on the arm of her protector, Chuck, closure setting her free to go outside once again. KC relects to Chapel about how rewarding it musts be to see the results of his handiwork. He grins us that grin, "It's very rewarding. Even when you don't get to see the results in person." Cut to scene of: No.5 - Depression
Here is Aaron in prison, going into the shower room alone. A bunch of what appears to be the same white supremists we saw menacing the crooked gun dealer, Block, while he was in jail in Episode 5 - "JUSTICE". Music? "It's Rainin' Men". No. Really! |
