Episode 9 - "NOIR"
Air Date - 12/31/98

First of all, Happy Holidays! Didja catch the ad with the Mr Chapel Christmas carole? Too Cool!

Carlton Harrison and his brand new baby wife are asleep. Suddenly the still is broken by the amplified, outraged voice of ex-wife Barbara, telling all the neighborhood what a rat Carl is for abandoning his 30-year marriage for a "silicone slut!" Seems Carl has not been supporting Barbara as he should be, saving it all for new wife, Tamara. Carl's son convinces Carl to sit down and talk with Barbara and the two work out a new settlement.

Carl's brother, Eric has been helping Carl hide his assets so that Barbara couldn't touch any of the money. Now, Carl's changed his mind and wants to give more money to Barbara.

Eric and Tamara have a plan - and the hots for each other. Tamara shoots Carl dead in his sleep one night, and has Eric shoot her so it looks like they have been attacked yet again by "loony Barbara". Barbara is jailed and sent away for Carl's murder and the attempted murder of Tamara. Tamara and Eric are free to jump on each other like a pair of crazed minks. AND they DO!

Son Jason is outraged by his mother's conviction, and rails at the detective in charge of the murder investigation (Surprise, the apple of KC's eye, Detective Swain from Episode 5 - "JUSTICE".) Swain shares with KC the fact that he also suspects Tamara, but has nothing to legally grab at. He shows KC Tamara's rap sheet. Not good - the

woman has already killed once before; at age 14! KC naturally goes straight to Mr. Chapel.

Jason gets The Manila Envelope and the Phone Number. He can't see how Mr. Chpal can help him; it's all over and his mother is in jail awaiting the outcome of her appeal. He's very young and very intimidated by Our Hero. "I don't know. You seem like some kind of psycho." Besides, he relates, they'll be spending all the money before Chapel can get his mother out. WRONG!

An IRS agent is telling Tamara and Eric that Carl's $550K in debt to the IRS and that the house and all the assets are being frozen until possible confiscation. "How can you do this?", Tamara rages at the agent. "We're the IRS." he answers coldly, going out and to his car. He gets behind the wheel and up from the backseat pops Mr. Chapel. The agent is Johnny, a former recipient of his help, now returning The Favor. Johnny says he's done what he was asked, are they even now? "No." smiles Chapel, " The little lady and I are just gettin' revved up."

KC gives Jason a plane ticket and tells him he has to get out of town before Mr. Chapel will do anything to help him. Reluctantly, he goes.

Chapel listens in with his super-dooper long-distance listening device while Tamara and Eric fill him in on their misdeeds while getting REAL chummy in the swimming pool. Chapel takes a few pics, too. He shares these pictures with KC, asking her to take them to Detective Swain. KC is looking through the pictures and suddenly she laughs and says, "Well, she had a BIG motive." She shows Chapel a detail of the picture she's looking at. It was very funny (maybe you just had to see it).

Next, Chapel finds Bradford, another of the people he's helped. Bradford is still trying to find a way to pay the Million, but Chapel says he'd rather have The Favor, instead. Sets Bradford up to be Tamara's next rich boyfriend. Tells Bradford, "Oh and, you better watch your back, cause...she likes to kill guys." Bradford hopes he didn't hear that. Bradford: "What?" Chapel: "I said, she likes to kill guys. Don't worry, I'm lookin' out for ya."

Chapel presents himself to Tamara as Bradford's bodyguard. Also presenting Bradford as a person who NEEDS a bodyguard, peaking Tamara's interest considerably. He basically sets Tamara on Bradford. She goes for it and begins to seduce Bradford. One day, while she and Eric are plotting on how to get Bradford's money, Johnny the IRS agent is back. He is intimidating Tamara and Eric and Chapel shows up in his guise as Vince the Bodyguard. He throws Johnny out, gaining the trust of Tamara and the jealousy of Eric.

Now I just gotta say this: Michael Madsen is sexy just walking and talking, but when he turns it on PURPOSELY like he does in this episode. . . .. well. . . . kicked MY hormone into overdrive. Back to the Story!

Our Mr. Chapel ends up with Tamara removing her panties and giving them to him, just as Bradford is arriving for his date with her. Very steamy stuff, is this. "Vince" leaves and finds Eric outside the window, watching Tamara with Bradford. He flaunts the red panties, using them as a slingshot, "You got little balls?" he says offhandedly to Eric, "I mean, like marbles, or something?" Snaps the panties again like a slingshot. Suggests to Eric that Tamara is going to need more than Bradford to keep her happy and she seems to like "Vince", and, well... So now, Eric is REAL mad.

Chapel convinces Tamara that she has to distance herself from Eric and then he lets Eric know that Bradford has no money. He shows Tamara a phoney survelleince tape about some bonds that need laundering and tells her they can double-cross Bradford and get the 5 million bucks for themselves. She's dumping Eric for sure, now.

Eric doesn't take his rejection well and brutalizes Tamara, telling her Bradford is penniless and getting ready to slam her hand in a drawer when "Vince" comes and beats him up. Tamara is mad about Bradford having no money and she climbs on top of "Vince", supposedly to seduce him, then points a pair of scissors at his throat. He says to her, why did she suppose a rich man needed to launder bonds for money? She concedes and they stay with their "plan" to abscond with the bonds.

Chapel really kicks the stuff out of Eric when left alone with him, then he wraps him up in a rug and has Bradfield. help him carry Eric to the car. He takes Eric to a motel and is getting ready to "set him on fire", when he's interrupted by Detective Swain, who was having Bradford's house watched. Chapel gets the drop on Swain and makes him drop his gun. The motel room is on slow fire with Eric getting real hot. Swain makes a choice and goes to untie Eric, allowing Chapel a clean get-away.

THEN, Barbara's appeal is denied and Jason is so upset that he comes back. He's all ready to tell Swain about Mr. Chapel when KC interrupts, blowing her cover by letting Jason see her at her real job. She calls Swain outside for an emergency tip phone call and manages to tell Jason to call Mr. Chapel NOW. Chapel convinces Jason to give him a little more time before he spills the beans to Swain. Jason agrees.

After the little incident with the fire, Eric is telling Swain everything, so now "Vince" can tell Tamara that the jig is up and she should consider making a run for it. "These things should end in a car chase, don't you think?" She falls into his arms, trying to seduce her way out of it. She plants a big kiss on him, at the end of which he quietly tells her, "Baby.....don't wrinkle Daddy's jacket."

It's over. Barbara is free and Tamara and Eric are in the slammer. Chapel calls Jason and says he wants to collect The Favor in full right now. Jason is terrified. Chapel tells him he wasn't supposed to see KC at the police station, and he want him to keep that secret; making them Even. And out of Jason's life forever. Jason is pretty relieved.

Swain finds Mr. Chapel's phone number and calls it. (By now, Swain is on to the fact that there IS someone out there doing things.) Chapel answers and Swain asks who he is. Chapel says "Just some guy whose gonna change his phone number." Then he casually tosses the 555-1032 cell phone into the trash. I thought his was a pretty good show. It sure rang MY bell, but maybe that's just the hormone talking.
