Incarcerated in a mental institution, Sarah dreams of Kyle Reese(Michael Biehn - this scene was cut in the original cut of this movie but re-installed in the Special Edition), who warns her that their son is in danger and that she must protect him. This galvanizes her into action and she plans her escape.

Meanwhile, up in the future, Skynet has sent back another Terminator, this time a T-1000. It's mission is to terminate the youth, John Connor. The adult John Connor sends back a modified T-800 series, Model 101 Terminator to protect his younger self and his mother.
