Paul  Rauch (Executive  Producer)
Paul Rauch was named executive producer of the long-running CBS daytime drama Guiding Light in November 1996.
Prior to joining Guiding Light, Paul devoted the previous three years to the production of feature films and primetime/ television projects. These include: 919 Fifth Avenue, a two-hour television pilot for CBS; and On the Boardwalk and Up Against It, two drama series for the USA Network and Fox Television, in association with Columbia Tri-Star.
His feature film, Lover’s Knot, a romantic comedy starring Tim Curry and Jennifer Grey, has been sold for worldwide theatrical, video, and television distribution. Other features in development are: Run the Wild Fields, California Blue, Vendetta, and Calling Card.
Paul started his career as an actor after studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. He later became a production assistant, stage manager, associate director, and director for CBS in New York. In 1960, he joined Procter & Gamble Productions, Inc. (PGP) as supervisor of Guiding Light, As the World Turns, and The Edge of Night. He returned to CBS in 1970 and became vice president, programs, East Coast, which included primetime/, daytime, and children’s series.
In 1972, Paul was named executive producer of Another World, a position he held for 11 years. Under his leadership, the series received an Emmy award for Best Show in 1975-76, as well as three other nominations.
In 1975, Another World became the first daytime drama to expand to a one-hour format and four years later, in another bold move, PGP and Paul lengthened the show to 90 minutes. In 1980, the show returned to its original length, making room for Another World's spin-off, Texas, produced and co-created by Paul.
In 1975, he was also executive producer of First Ladies’ Diaries, an NBC special, which was nominated for an Emmy. After developing projects for 20th Century Fox and CBS (1983-84), he returned to daytime television as executive producer of ABC’s One Life to Live (1984-1991), followed by two years as executive producer of Santa Barbara for NBC (1991-93).
