Space Pod From 2001: A Space Odyssey
When:
When Watto shows Qui Gon Gin around his junkyard.
Where:
Right after you see Jar Jar hit the pitdroid in the nose, this image is the very next scene you see. On the left of the screen is the 2001 pod. It is the white object with the two arms sticking out of it. You can also glimpse it in-between Qui Gon and Watto a few seconds later. I will have a image of the pod from 2001: A Space Odyssey as soon as I can.
Story:
George Lucas had either a reproduction or the original pod and wanted to put it into this scene. After finding it farther back in the junkyard, Lucas said "No, I want it up close so everyone can see it!" or something like that.
