Story:
When the guys over at ILM were making TPM, it looks like they continued the process of taking things from veryday life. Fett's Slave 1 being shaped like a street light, the Falcon like a hamburger - and now a droid's head being shaped like a headlight of a car!
Thanks to Flash for this theory:
"One of my favorite [easter eggs] is another E.T. cameo, though they are robot E.T.'s. At the beginning of the movie, there are droid E.T.'s, silver in color, walking in the background corridor... then later in the film, after the droid army on Naboo has been shut down."
Could this be possible? MOST DEFINATELY! Let me explain:
Back in June at The Visual Effects Society (VES) '99, the keynote speakers included ILM's John Knoll, Scott Squires, and Rob Coleman, among others. Among the stories that they told about their work on the film, was one about Steven Spielberg's first viewing of TPM before it was completed. He sighted the "reference to E.T" in the film and suggested that they added more of them that were more prominant. Thus, the final result was the three E.T Senators. For the longest time, I thought the "reference to E.T" was a fourth E.T somewhere. But these little droids could be that reference! What do you think? Feel free to add a post on my messageboard.
