Her previous two films had been critical and box-office failures. Despite this, she still had scores of fans, and her popularity showed no signs of fading. In addition, throughout her career,she had positioned herself as something of an outsider to Hollywood and refused to move to Hollywood, away from her home in the Swiss Alps. What were the major movie companies to do? She still commanded a high salary, but her last two films ( "Green Mansions" and "The Unforgiven") were flops. Luckily, Paramount stepped up. They decided to cast her in the role of Holly Golightly. Today, it is this role that Audrey Hepburn is perhaps most identified with.
