Generally if a thesis statement says "I hate Shakespeare
because he sucks," then the student will get a FAILING grade.
It is easier to let Shakespeare hang himself. He is very
willing. The student must take the play or plays that have been read in class, dissect his work and reveal its gutless nature. Notice I don't expect anyone to have actually survived a live performance.
I will use a few commonly used plays to develop thesis statements and the needed supporting evidence. So let's use Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth and Hamlet. These are easy targets, but the ideas will work with any of his trash.
OK if you want to email me at this site. Don't waste your time telling me how great Shakespeare is. Tell me how to correct spelling. I know that I have dangling things. If you have a good "I hate Shakespeare" point let me know and I will try to include it.
Remember, we must all wage war against the Shakespeare conspiracy.
