Blast From The Past - Teen Idols

My Teen Idols Page

This page is devoted to all of the teen idols from the 70's who caught my fancy..
If the internet had been around in those days, this page is probably what my Sexy Men site may have looked like. It's a work in progress - it's pretty to hard to find information or pictures of some of these guys who seem to have vanished off the face of the earth. (See "Help" section at bottom of page)
It was a different story "way back when" - the 70's, when you couldn't open a magazine or turn on the tv or radio without seeing or hearing these charming individuals. Pin-ups of these gentlemen were my bedroom wallpaper when I was a teen. Ah, Nostalgia! :-)
So sit back and take a trip down memory lane with me - back to the groovy days of
Farrah Fawcett hairdos, bell bottom pants and bubblegum music on 8 track tapes!

Peter Tork and Davy Jones of The Monkees
Peter's Birthdate: February 13, 1942 (Aquarius)
Davy's Birthdate: December 30, 1945 (Capricorn)
My first taste of fan obsession came early in my life. It was the mid-sixties, and I was still in elementary school, but I never missed Monday evening's episode of The Monkees. I liked Peter first, but fickle child that I was, later decided I liked Davy more.
Daydream Believer

Bobby Sherman
Birthdate: July 22, 1943 (Cancer on the cusp of Leo)
Another of my first teen idols, just before starting junior high - back around 1969 or 1970 - I would watch him on Here Come The Brides and buy every one of his '45s (remember those?).
Julie Do Ya Love Me

David Cassidy
Birthdate: April 12, 1950 (Aries)
Most women in my age group have fond memories of being glued to the tv set everytime The Partridge Family was on - and darling David was the reason!
I Think I Love You

Merrill Osmond
Birthdate: April 30, 1953 (Taurus)
Most of my friends (along with my sister and my cousin) loved Donny Osmond, but I had to be different. Merrill was my favorite Osmond brother.
Down By The Lazy River

Mark Lindsay (from Paul Revere & The Raiders)
Birthdate: March 9, 1942 (Pisces)
I saw this band perform at Disneyland in June of 72, and spent most of that summer being obsessed with Mark. Until....
Arizona

  Rick Springfield
Birthdate: August 23, 1949 (Leo/Virgo cusp)
Late summer of 72, I discovered Rick Springfield, and Mark Lindsay became Mark Who? Most people discovered Rick in the early 80's, when "Jesse's Girl" hit the charts and he was "Dr. Noah Drake" on General Hospital. But for me, it was 1972, and Rick was singing "Speak To The Sky". Not content with just a '45, I went out and bought his album, and snatched up every copy of "16" and "Tiger Beat" magazine that had his picture in it. I had a poster of him on my bedroom wall over my bed (see center pic above) for at least a year. I was a member of his fan club, and I even watched his Saturday morning cartoon show Mission Magic! Rick and I share the same birthday (although he is several years my senior).

Peter Doyle and Marty Kristian of The New Seekers
Peter's Birthdate: July 28, 1949 (Leo)
Marty's Birthdate: May 27, 1947 (Gemini)
Early in my teens I had a collection of New Seekers albums and watched all of their TV appearances. I loved their sweet music and thought Peter and Marty were hot. I recently found out that Peter died of cancer on Oct 13, 2001.
See Me Feel Me

Andy and David Williams
Birthdate: Feb. 22, 1959 (Pisces)
Nephews of Andy Williams. I thought they were cute, and I pretty much wore out my record of their song "Fly, Pretty Baby".
Fly Pretty Baby

Michael Brandon
Birthdate: April 20, 1945 (Taurus)
Not a typical teeny-bopper idol, but when I was about 15 or 16, I used to watch every tv show and tv movie he was in, and I thought he was a "total fox"! I wrote a fan letter to him when I was 15 and in return received an autographed 8 x 10 picture of him.

David Haskell and Victor Garber from Godspell
David's birthdate: June 4, 1948 (Gemini)
Victor's birthdate: March 16, 1949 (Pisces)
Ah, the men of Godspell! I fell in love with this musical the first time I saw it. I had an enormous crush on David, who played John The Baptist/Judas, and a slightly smaller crush on Victor, who played Jesus. David went on to roles on the soaps Santa Barbara and Generations, and several small roles in movies and tv shows. Victor went on to huge Broadway success, and is now best known as Jack Bristow on the show Alias.
Sadly, David passed away from brain cancer on August 30, 2000. :-( He is missed!
Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord (David Haskell)
Save The People (Victor Garber)

Robert Redford
Birthdate: August 18, 1937 (Leo)
Spring of '74, near the end of my sophomore year in high school, I had a crush on Robert Redford. I must have seen "The Way We Were" at least 20 times at the theater when it first came out, and it's still one of my favorite movies.

Bo Donaldson
Birthdate:
June 13, 1950 (Gemini)
Remember Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods? Billy, Don't Be A Hero?? Cutie-pie Bo was my major heartthrob of the 70's. Everyone I knew liked Mike Gibbons, but Bo was my favorite Heywood. I'll never forget seeing them at Knott's Berry Farm a couple of weeks after my 16th birthday. I was thrilled when Bo sang lead vocals on "You're Sixteen"!

Bill Hudson of The Hudson Brothers
Birthdate: October 17, 1949 (Libra)
Most girls liked the youngest brother Brett, but when I watched The Hudson Bros. show, it was for oldest brother Bill. I joined very few fan clubs as a teen - The Hudson Bros. fan club was one of those few.
So You Are A Star

Peter Frampton

Birthdate: April 22, 1950 (Taurus)
A 70's fan page wouldn't be complete without Mr. "Show Me The Way". In my senior year, I missed performing in the Christmas concert with my high school choir because it was the same night as the Peter Frampton concert at the L.A. Forum, which I just couldn't miss!.
Baby I Love Your Way

My site won an award! I am so proud! :-)

HELP!!!!

If anyone has pictures (current or otherwise), info, trivia, or whatever about any of these guys, please email me!....teenidolsofthe70s@yahoo.com
Also....if anyone has information or pictures of a band called "London Bridge", please let me know. I saw them at Magic Mountain in 1973. The lead singer's name was Jeff, but I don't remember anything else about them.
